Trip to Stockport / Hazel Grove 03-02-2024

Today we decided to revist Stockport. Research consisted of looking up where we could eat and to check the weather. The weather forecast was for grey overcast weather with some rain. Matthew had his medication around 08:00 and got up just after 10:00. Mum arrived home from work and we researched where we could eat. We set of just after 12:00 to go and pick up uncle Dave. We got in the car and we set off through Blurton onto Beaconsfield Drive. We turned left onto Church Road and at the roundabout we veered left onto Blurton Road. We ran through Blurton and into Heron Cross and over the A50. At Heron Cross lights we turned left onto Grove Road. We ran forwards onto Wheildon Road and we picked up uncle Dave. Once we had picked up uncle Dave, we continued down Wheildon Road and we joined the Northbound A500. As we headeded Northwards we saw we saw an unidentified silver minibus, taxi minibus ML72 EWE and Reays ?? HXN. At junction 16 we joined the Northbound M6. Travelling up the M6 we saw an unidentified Ashcroft and a National Express liveried coach (#121). We came off the M6 and joined the Eastbound A556. We continued onto the M56 and we saw taxi minibus SF18 VVH. We continued Eastwards and we joined the Eastbound M60. We came off at Junction 1 ans we joined the Eastbound A5145. We turned right onto the A6 and we came off the road near to the bus station and we entered the Red Rock car park. It took 2 runs arund the car park to find a space and we parked up. We saw taxi minibus MD73 GVA. We walked out of the car park and we crossed over Sufferagette Square and e we turned right onto Prince's Street. We stopped at Grandad's Chip Shop restaurant for dinner. Matthew went to the toilet and mum ordered the food. Matthew had sausage chips and gravy washed down with a can of Coke. when we had finished we said goodbye to mum and we headed outside to see what buses we might catch. We walked along Prince's Street into Mersey Square and we saw Nexus Move LK66 EHY on a #309 Cheadle circular.

We had a walk around the bus station and we walked back onto the A6 to wait for something towards Hazel Grove. We saw Stotts SK22 BVD on a #364 Hazel Grove circular.

We went around the bus station and we saw Stagecoach Manchester 19339 on a #23 to the Trafford Centre.

We walked back onto the A6 and we waited for a bus Southwards. Matthew had indicated that he wanted to catch a #199 service. We saw High Peak 808 on a #199 to Buxton. WE didn't get to the bus stop quick enough, so we waited for something else. A short time later we saw it was Stagecoach Manchester 11533 on a #192 to Hazel Grove P&R.

We got on the bus and we booked system one bus only day tickets at £5 each before we went upstairs and we sat down. The bus set off Southwards down the A6 past the town hall and near to the railway station. We continued South past a pre-Worboys finger post gin=ving the distance to Manchester as 7 miles and Hazel Grove 2 miles. We continued through Heavily and into Hazel Grove. We passed through the town and we turned right onto the B5092. We stopped at the terminus and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took another picture of Stagecoach Manchester 11533 before it returned to Manchester Piccadilly.

We went into the terminal building and Matthew used the toilet. A very weird lace where the door opens out into the building with a urinal in direct view of the door! When Matthew had finished we went outside to bus stop and we saw Stagecoach Manchester 11540 on a #912 to Manchester Piccadilly.

I thiught we might be catching this but Matthew had other ideas! We walked along the B5092 and we turned right onto the A6. We walked under the railway line and we walked a few hundred yards, past a garage until we came to a bus stop. I checked the bus timetable and we had missed one by about 10 minutes. This seemed unlikely as we hadn't seen one whilst walking to the stop and there was also somebody else waitinmg for the bus. Just as I went to look where the bus was on the live map we saw a bus come around the corner. As it got closer we saw it was High Peak 534 on a #199 service to Manchester Airport.

We got on the bus and we flashed the System One Bus Only Day ticket to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off Northwards up the A6 and we went under the railway line andinto Hazel Grove town centre. We continued Northwards through Heavily and we ran into Stockport. We past the town hall and the new transport Interchange which is under construction and we stopped at a bus stop adjacent to the temporary bus station where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we saw Stagecoach Manchester 11505 in front of us which was on a #192 to Manchester Piccadilly.

We walked down to the bus station and we decided to catch something in a different direction. There were 2 Stagecoach Enviro400's on stand. We decided to catch the on right. We saw it was Stagecoach Manchester 19340 on a #23 to The Trafford Centre.

We got on the bus and we flashed the System One bus only ticket to the driver before we went upstairs. The bus set off out of the bus station and we went forwards onto Swain Street. We travelled Northwards onto the A5145 and we went under the M60. We headed Westwards and we turned right onto pyramid Roundabout avoiding lane. We re-joined the Westbound A5145 and we travelled through Heaton Mersey. We continued Westwards across the A34 and we stopped by a green near to Parrs Woods bus station. We continued into Didsbury and then into West Didsbury. We continued Westwards along the A5145 under the A5103 and into Chorlton and we continued to the small bus station in Chorlton where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took another picture of Stagecoach Manchester 19340 as it continued towards The Trafford Centre.

Once off the bus we had a look around to see what was about. We saw Stagecoach Manchester 10425 about to work a #86 to Piccadilly Gardens.

We decided to have a bit of an explore so we crossed the road where there appeared to be quite a few bars and restaurants. We went into a bar called Strange Brew and Matthew went to the toilet. Afterwards we went to the bar and Matthew had a glass of Coke. We sat in the window and drank our drinks and whem we had finished we went outside, being careful not to step on the dog! We met up with uncle Dave. Due to roadworks, step F was out of use ans the was a temposrary bus stop opposite the bus station. We walked up to the bus bstation to wait for a bus back towards Stockport. The first bus that came by was Stagecoach Manchester 12216 on a #86 to Chorlton.

Right behind that was our bus. As it got closer we saw it was Stagecoach Manchester 19365 on a #25 to Stockport.

We got on the bus and we flashed the System One Bus Only Day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off along the A5145 and we headed Southwards. We turned left onto Mauldeth Road West and we headed Eastwards. We ran under the A5103 and we continued forwards onto Mauldeth Road into Ladybarn. We crossed over the A34 and we continued along Mauldeth road before turning right onto Burnage Lane. We turned left onto Mauldeth Road and we headed Southwards. We turned left onto Clifton Road and at the roundabout we turned right to continued following Clifton Road. We turned left onto Heaton Moor road and right onto Parsonage Road. We turned left onto Heaton Road and we went ober the railway line before turning right onto the Southbound A6. We ran the last 1/2 mile or so into town over the M60 and we stopped opposite to the bus station. Matthew got another picture of Stagecoach Manchester 19365 before it continued as a #11 to Altrincham.

At the stops on the other end of Mersey Square we spotted another High Peak bus so we had a brisk walk to try and cath it. As we got closer we saw it was High Peak 535 on a #199 to Buxton. We got on the bus and we flashed the System One Bus Only Day ticket to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off Southwards down the A6 past the town hall and near to the railway station. We continued South past a pre-Worboys finger post gin=ving the distance to Manchester as 7 miles and Hazel Grove 2 miles. We continued through Heavily and into Hazel Grove where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took a picture of High Peak 535 as it contnued on a #199 to Buxton.

We crossed over the road and we headed to the pub. Matthew went to the toilet and afterwards we headed to the bar. We had a glass of Coke and we stood ny a small ta ble by the bar. When we had finished we went outside and we waited at the bus stop. A short time later we saw a bus approaching. We saw it was Stagecoach Manchester 11535 on a #192 to Manchester Piccadilly.

We got on the bus and we flashed the System One Bus Only Day tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. The top deck was empty so Matthew took a picture inside of Stagecoach Manchester 11535 before we sat down.

The bus set off Northwards up the A6 out of Hazel Grove town centre. We continued Northwards throggh Heavily and we ran into Stockport. As we ran Northwards we were overtaken by D&G Bus 105 on a #385 from Marple to Stockport. We past the town hall and the new transport Interchange which is under construction and we stopped at a bus stop adjacent to the temporary bus station where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took a picture of Stagecoach Manchester 11535 as it continued towards Manchester Piccadilly.

We crossed over the A6 and we saw Stagecoach Manchester 19407 carry the number 407 and in the North West Roadcar livery on a #11 to Altrincham.

We walked onto Mersey Square and along Prince's Street. We turned left onto Port Street and we went into the car park. We rode the lift to the first floor and we met mum at the car. Matthew had a can of Irn Bru and a Tunnock's Caramel Wafer. We set off out of the car park onto Leyland Street and at the roundabout we turned left onto Great Egerton Street. At the roundabout we turned right and went under the M60 before turning left onto the A5145. We joined the Westbound M60 and we came off onto the M56. We continued to junction and we went onto the Westbound A556. We came off the A556 on to the M6 and we headed Southwards. Seen on the M6 were Galloway 2086 PP / 5611 PP / 3379 PP and Stagecoach Megabus G22 MCL(M11). We came off the M6 at junction 16 and we headed Southwards down the A500. We travelled through Longport and Etruria into Stoke where we came off onto Wheildon Road. We stopped at uncle Dave's and Matthew used the toilet. He also had some of uncle Rob's Irn Bru. Matthew updated the calendar. Once we had dropped off uncle Dave we set off onto Wheildon Road. We ran forwards onto Grove Road and we saw green minibus R482 NDM parked up. We turned right onto Blurton Road and we crossed over the A50. We continued through Blurton and we turned right onto Church Road. We turned right onto the A5035 and we got back to Blurton around 19:30. Matthew chilled out on his computer and we did some of the Blog. As we hadn't stopped for food, Matthew had 4 rounds of ham sandwiches. We also wrote a few emails and generally used the computer to entertain ourselves. We watched TV and Matthew got ready for bed. Matthew settled down around 00:00... Mark
