Today Matthew was in the residential unit and he was going out on the bus. Matthew got up around 08:00 and had toast for breakfast. before Matthew went to the day centre he watched buses out of the window. whilst waiting for the time to go to the day centre, we saw First Potteries 67156 on a #23 to Hanley. Later on we went downstairs and we set off onto City Road and we stood at the bus stop outside the flats and we waited for a bus towards Hanley. A short time later we saw First Potteries 67155 on a #23 to Hanley. A few minutes later we saw the bus approaching and we saw it was First Potteries 67149 on a #11X to Hanley.

We got on the bus and we booked to Hanley before sitting down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off up City Road and we went forwards onto King Street. We ran through Foley and we under the railway line into Longton town centre. We ran up Market Street and we turned left onto Anchor Road. We turned left onto Upper Cross Street and we turned right onto Wood Street. We turned left onto Ashwood and we turned right onto Longley Road. We turned left onto Heathcote Street and we turned right onto Galsworthy Road. We turned right onto Bambury Street and we turned left onto Anchor Road. We ran up the hill to the top and ran down to the roundabout in Adderley Green. At the roundabout at the East end of Bentilee we turned right onto Beverley Drive and then left onto Dawlish Drive. We ran to the end and we turned left onto Beverley Drive. At the end we turned right onto Dividy Road and we ran down the hill to Bucknall. We turned left onto the A52 and we ran to limekiln lights and we went across onto Bucknall New Road. We climbed the hill up to Hanley and we joined the clockwise ring road. We turned right onto Bethesda Road and we turned right onto John Street. Once in the bus station we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew went to the toilet. We set off onto Lichfield Street and and we had finished in there we walked across the corner onto Old Hall Street to B&M. After doing a little more shopping there we continued along Stafford Street. We continued onto Tontine Square and we visited the Card Factory. We went forwards onto Tontine Street and we visited the barbers. Matthew had a haircut and afterwards we set off back down Tontine Street an onto Tontine Square. We continued onto Market Square and around the corner to Greggs. Matthew picked a caramel shortbread fot later. We headed back through the sqiares onto Tontine Street an onto Tontine Square. We continued onto Market Square and around the corner to Greggs. Matthew had a chicken sandwich washed down with can of Irn Bru. after visiting shops in the shopping centre we walked down Tontine Square. We went into Tontine Street and onto Lichfield Street. We headed into the bus station and we waited for a bus to Newcastle. A short time later we saw Stanton's of Stoke 579 UXR on a #50 to Lightwood. Whilst we waited we saw D&G Bus 149 on a #100 to Stone.

As it got closer we saw that it was First Potteries 63103 on the #38A to Waterhayes.

We got on the bus and we booked to Kidsgrove before sitting down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the bus station and onto John Street. At the bottom of the road we turned right onto Bethesda Street and before we went across onto Marsh Street and we turned left onto Etruria Road and before going under the A53 onto Festival Way. We ran past Waterworld and we turned left turned left onto Etruria Valley Link Road. We turned left onto Shelton Boulevard and we turned right onto Forge Lane past a the Brindley Farm pub. We looped under the A53 and we joined the Westbound A53. We crossed over the A500 at Etruria and and we ran up the hill into Basford and we ran down hill to the edge of Newcastle and we got onto the one way system. At the jubilee roundabout we turned left onto Barracks Road before turning right into the bus station where we got up and got off the bus. Matthew went to the toilet and afterwards we waited for a bus towards Meir. As it got closer we saw it was D&G Bus 6008 on a #1 to Meir.

We got on the bus and we booked to Meir before sitting down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off out of the bus station onto barracks Road and we ran down onto the Southbound A34. We turned left into the hospital and we ran through the grounds and onto Hilton Road. We continued onto Albany Road and we turned right onto The Avenue. At the end of the road we turned right onto the A52 and we ran through Hartshill and down the hill into Stoke town centre. After a brief stop we continued along Church Street out of Stoke and over the A500. We ran under the railway line and we continued onto City Road. We ran past the site of the new Burger King and we went forwards onto King Street. We ran through Foley and we under the railway line into Longton Transport Interchange onto Baths Road and we ran forwards onto Market Street. We turned left onto Anchor Road and right onto Sutherland Road. We ran to the other end of the road and we turned left onto Weston Coyney Road. We ran up the hill past Matthew's old respite place and at the end we turned right onto the A520 and we turned left onto Brookwood Drive. We turned right onto Stansmore Road and we turned left onto Leason Road. We paused in the Square before going onto Woodville Road. We turned left onto the A520 and we ran into the centre of Meir. At the roundabout we turned right onto Broadway and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we walked into Broadway. We turned left onto the A520. Once off the bus we waied for a taxi back to Fenton. It was a Lucky Seven taxi. We set off along the A520 and we turned right at the roundabout onto the Westbound A50. We ran through Longton to Fenton and we came off the A50 at Heron Cross. We turned right onto Blurton Road and we went through the traffix lights onto Heron Street. We ran forwards onto Station Bridge Road and we turned left onto Christchurch Street. We turned left onto Masterson Street and right onto Watkin Street. We continued onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. Matthew went back upstairs and Matthew went to his room to chill out. He used his computer and watched buses out of the window. Later on we went downstairs and we set off onto Temple Street. We turned left onto Smithpool Road. We crossed over the railway line and we walked down to the entrance of the park. The new visitor unit. Matthew had washed down a can of Irn Bru. In the park Matthew walked up to the playground. Once we had finished in the park we walked back along Grove Road and we went into Heron Cross. We turned left onto Heron Street before arriving at our destination. At the pub Matthew went to the toilet and drank some Coke. Highlights of the bus sightings included Scraggs VT 9389. We went down Heron Street and we continued onto Station Bridge Road. We turned left onto Christchurch Street and we turned left onto Temple Street. We went upstairs and Matthew went to his room. We went downstairs and we got in the car. We set off onto Temple Street and we turned right onto Smithpool Road. We turned left onto City Road and we ran down to Stoke. We crossed over the A500 and onto Church Street. We followed the one-way system around and we turned left onto London Road. We turned right onto Trent Valley Road and we stopped to the house. For tea Matthew had sausage and bean slice potatoes and carrots washed down with a can of Irn Bru followed by cheesecake. We got back in the car and we ran up Trent Valley Road into Penkhull. We ran forwards onto Princes Road and we turned right onto the A52. We ran into Stoke and around the one-way system. We turned left onto Liverpool Street and right onto Elanora Street. We turned right onto Copeland Street and forwards onto Glebe Street. We turned left onto the A52 and we crossed over the A500. We ran under a railway line and we went up City Road into Fenton. We turned right onto Smithpool Road and left onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. We went upstairs and later on Matthew chilled out in his room. Matthew used his computer and watched music videos on the television. Later on Matthew had a bath and then had toast for supper. He then chilled out in his room until bedtime around 23:00... Mark.

Matthwe went into the living room and we saw Temple Street Church RX18 GZW. We went downstairs and we and we cut through onto City Road to wait a bus to Hanley. We stood at the bus stop outside the flats and we waited for a bus to Hanley. Whilst we waited we saw First Potteries 67157 on a #11 to Newcastle.

We got on the bus and we booked to Hanley before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off down City Road and we joined the A52 to go under the railway line and over the A500. We continued onto Church Street. and into the centre of Stoke. After a brief stop we continued around the one-way system onto Elenora Steet and right onto Copeland street. We turned left onto Glebe Street and we went under the railway line before turning left onto Station Road. We went past the railway station we turned right onto College Road. After running the hill through Shelton we continued onto Cleveland Road and forwards onto Regent Road. We turned left onto Lower Bethesda Street and we crossed over the ring road onto Bethesda Street. We turned right onto John Street. We entered the bus station and we got up and got off the and we waited for a bus towards Trentham. A few minutes later the bus appeared and it was D&G Bus 171 on a #100 to Stone.

We got on the bus and we booked to Fenton before we sat down. We set off onto John Street and we turned left onto Bethesda Street. We crossed over the ring road and we ran down onto Regent Road and forwards onto Cleveland Road. We ran down though Shelton along College Road and we ran down to the railway station. We ran forwards onto the A52 and we ran alongside the railway line before turning right onto City Road. We went South on the A500 which we did down to A34. Once on the A34 we went South through Trentham. Near to the old entrance to the gardens we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we went to across the road the road and into Trentham Gardens. we walked around the North end of the lake and we went to Totally delicious. Matthew had a ham sandwich washed down with bottle of Coke. Afterwards Matthew had an ice cream in a waffle cone. After finishing eating Matthew went to the toilet. Once we had finished eating we walked back through the main gate and onto the A34 opposite the A5035 and we turned right into New Inn Lane and we saw First Potteries 67141 on a #22 to Longton.

We headed around the corner onto Pacific Road and we saw blue minibus YP09 NGU. We walked back around the corner onto New Inn Lane. We waited for the next bus to Blurton. A few minutes later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 67146 on a #22 to Longton.

We got on the bus and we booked to Blurton before we sat down. We set off down New Inn Lane and we ran into Trentham. We turned left onto the A5035 and we crossed over the railway line into Blurton. We passed the end of Stanley Matthew Way and we turned left onto Magdalen Road. We turned right onto Finstock Avenue and left onto Beaconsfield Drive where we got up and got off the bus. A couple of minutes later we saw the First Potteries. As expected it was First Potteries 67153 on the #23 to Hanley.

We got on the bus and we booked to Fenton before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off along Beaconsfield Drive and we turned left onto Church Road. At the roundabout we veered left onto Blurton Road. We ran through Blurton and up the hill into Heron Cross. We crossed over the A50 and we went through the traffice lights onto Heron Street. We followed the road around onto Station Bridge Road and and we turned left onto Christchurch Street. We stopped at the end of the road and we waited time and we saw Copeland's Tours MIB 783 going towards the baths. The original plan was to get off on City Road and we got up and got off at the Travers Court bus stop outside the block of flats. Once off the bus we walked onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. Matthew upstairs and Matthew went to his room to chill out and watch buses out of the window. Once we were ready we went downstairs and out of the unit. We set off outside and we saw Shelton Care Group YS70 KWG outside the residential unit. We set off onto Temple Street and we turned left onto City Road past the new sheltered housing complex. We crossed over the A500 and went into Stoke town centre. We crossed the road to wait for the next station bound bus. When it turned up it was required D&G Bus 100 on a #9 to Biddulph. We got on the bus and booked to the railway station before sitting down. The bus set off out of Stoke town centre and across the A500. We crossed under the railway line before turning left onto the A52. At the eother end of the road we turned left onto Station Road. We went past the railway station ans we turned right onto College Road where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we we walked down College Road and we saw Scraggs VT 9389. Wewent into Hanley Park for a while. We walk northwards through the park and into the North West corner to the sensory play area where Matthew had a can of Irn Bru. Matthew walked to the toilet. and visited the ice cream van. Matthew had an ice cream with a Flake. Matthew highlights of the bus sightings included Copeland's Tours MIB 516. We walked through the park and we saw the cafe in the park. After spending a while there we walked back to the South East corner of the park. we walked down Avenue Road. We returned back into College Road. A short time later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 67178 on a #23 to Newstead. We got on the bus and we booked to Fenton and sat down towards the back of the bus. We continued down College Road and we ran down to the railway station. We turned right onto Glebe Street and under the railway line an we ran around the one-way system in Stoke and stopped by Stoke Minster. We turned left onto Church Street and we crossed the A500 and we ran under the railway line. After climbing up the hill into Fenton we turned right into Christchurch Street where we got up and got off the bus. We then walked back onto Christchurch Street we turned left onto Temple Street and to the residential unit and went upstairs and chilled out in his room for a short while. For tea Matthew had steak pie and chips followed by treacle tart and custard. Matthew spent time in his room watching television and using his computer. Later on Matthew had a bath and then had toast for supper. He then chilled out in his room until bedtime around 23:00... Mark.

Today Matthew was in the residential unit and he was going to his day service. He was also going out on the bus later on. Matthew got up around 08:00 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. Matthew watched buses whilst he waited to go out in the morning. We saw Temple Street church RX18 GZW parked up in the Street. we went downstairs and we set off onto Temple Street. In the distance we saw Temple Street church minibus RX18 GZW. We carried on along Temple Street and we turned right onto Christchurch Street. We crossed the road and we stood at the stop by Albert Square to go towards Blurton. We waited a few minutes and then the bus appeared. As it got closer we saw that it was First Potteries 63099 on a #23 to Newstead. We got on the bus and we booked to Blurton. The bus was empty, so Matthew took a picture inside First Potteries 63099 before we sat down towards the back of the bus.

We set off along Christchurch Street and we continued onto Station Bridge Road. We ran forwards onto Heron Street and we went through the traffic lights onto Blurton Road. After crossing over the A50 we continued through Blurton. We turned right onto Church Road and right onto Beaconfield Drive. We ran to the other end and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus. We walked around the corner. We got home. Matthew had a drink of Irn Bru and ate his Manchester tart. When it was time to go we went back to the residential unit in the car. We set off onto Beaconsfield Drive and we turned left onto Church Road. We turned left onto Blurton Road and we ran through Blurton. We joined the Eastbound A50 and we then turned left onto the A50 link Road. We turned left onto King Street and at Victoria Place we turned right onto Victoria Road. We ran up the hill and we stopped at MacDonalds where we picked up Matthew's dinner. We continued up Once we had the food we set off onto Victoria Road. we ran to the top of the hill and we turned sharp right onto City Road. We turned left onto Smithpool Road and left onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. Matthew went upstairs and back to his room to chill out. For dinner had chicken nuggets, fries and a cup of coke followed by a He also hate some cupcakes an other party foods. Later on we went to Hurleston in the car. We went downstairs to the car and we set off onto Temple Street and we turned right onto Smithpool Road. We turned left onto City Road and we ran down the hill onto the A52. We ran under the railway line towards Stoke and we saw First Potteries 63034 on a #11 to Hanley. we crossed over the A500 before we turned right onto the Northbound carriageway. We ran North for a few miles and then we continued Westwards as we crossed under the M6. We continued along the A500 to the South of Crewe until we reached the end before going onto the Nantwich by-pass. At the end of the by-pass we turned right following the A51 for another 1/2 mile and we saw Arriva NW&W 4404 on a #84 to Crewe. We turned left into Snugbury's where we picked up. Matthew had a vanilla flavoured cone. He also went to see the giant bee made out of hay. When we had finished we returned to Blurton by car. We turned right onto the A51 and we headed towards Nantwich. We went around the North side of Nantwich on the bypass and we joined the Eastbound A500. We ran the the South of Crewe and under the M6. We continued through Longport and Etruria into Stoke. A500. We ran through Stoke and we came off the A500 at Sideway. We headed Eastwards towards Heron Cross and we turned right onto Blurton Road. and we veered right onto giss Street. We turned right onto Beaconsfield Drive we saw First Potteries 67650 on a #22 to Longton. We got back to Blurton. When we got home Matthew had a can of dandelion & burdock and chilled out on his computer until it was time to go to the residential unit. We set off onto Finstock Avenue and onto Beaconsfield Drive passing JMS Topgear Travel BW14 ZTK. We continued along Beaconsfield Drive and we turned left onto Church Road and left again onto Blurton Road. We went through the traffic lights onto Heron Steeet. We got in a car and we set off onto Beaconsfield Drive. We turned left onto Church Street and we continued onto Blurton Road. In Heron Cross we joined the Westbound A50. We ran up to Sideway and we joined the Northbound A500. and we headed up to Longport. On the way we passed grey minibus MF20 YDM. we headed up to Longport. We turned onto the roundabout at Longport and we saw First Potteries 69163 on the #99 to Bradeley.

We stopped at the Texaco garage in Longport. We stopped to drop something off an Matthew was presented where we saw First Potteries 63118 on a #98 to Newcastle. After saying goodbye we continued down to the A500. We came off the A500 at Etruria and we went eastwards along the A53. and we went towards Hanley up to Etruria Road. At the ring road. We came off the ring Road at Botteslow Street and we ran down to the A52. We turned right onto Limekiln lights. we turned right onto Dividy Road. We turned left onto Beverley Drive and right onto Dawlish Drive we turned left onto Bentilee neighbourhood centre. After parking up we went in the centre where we saw Scraggs VT 9389. We got to the dentist. Matthew had his checkup. Matthew came out of the dentist and we visited the cafe. Matthew had a washed down with a bottle of Coke. Matthew had his checkup and we got back into the car for the journey home We went back round up Dawlish Drive. We ran through the estate and back onto the A5272. We ran up to Adderley Green and we saw First Potteries 69167 parked in the garage. At the roundabout we turned right onto Anchor Road. system onto Commerce Street and right onto The Strand. we joined the West bound high level A50. We headed back onto the A50 and we ran up to Heron Cross. We turned right onto Blurton Road and we ran through Blurton onto Church Road. We turned right into Beaconsfield Drive and we caught up First Potteries 63172 on a #22 to Newcastle.

We got home around 16:00. For a late tea we had bangers and mash with carrots followed by a slice of egg custard tart. We spent time doing the e-mails and doing the Blog. We finished off the Blog and then we went back to the residential unit in the car. We set off through Blurton onto Finstock Avenue and we turned left onto Beaconsfield Drive. We turned left onto Church Road and left again onto Blurton Road. We went through the traffic lights onto Heron Street. We carried on forwards onto Station Bridge Road we saw First Potteries 67157 On the #23 to Newstead. and we turned left onto Christchurch Street. We turned left onto Masterson Street and we turned right onto Watkin Street. We continued onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. We went upstairs and Matthew went to his room. He watched television and used his computer. Later on Matthew had a bath and then had toast for supper. He then chilled out in his room until bedtime around 23:00... Mark.

Earlier this week we decided to book on our 2nd Copeland's Tours trip of the year so far to York. Preparation for the trip included printing section of the York bus map and printing out a load of First York Timetables along with Arriva service 415. I had looked up the price of the York Pullman City Tour, but I initial dismissed this as not an option. As it was a longer trip we decide to do this coach from it's last scheduled pickup of Newcastle. As we were unable to park in Brunswick Street, I dropped everybody off and put the car in the Vue car park for the day. Of course, as soon as i left a space became available in the street! Matthew enjoyed watching a procession of coaches and bus coming down the street for the few minutes we had to wait before our coach turned up at around 08:50. When the bus turned up it was not the one Matthew wants most desperately to travel on, but it was required... MIB 978. the route from Newcastle was A34,A500,M6 and then M62 After around an hour on the road, we stopped at the Birch Service station on the M62. here we stopped for a quick toilet stop and we visited the shop where Matthew purchased the latest issue of 'Buses'. When we went to the toilet we used our RADAR key as always to access what we thought was the disabled toilets. I could hear voices from the other side so I slowly opened the door. What the door actually was, was a shorter route to the toilets. When mum came around to the toilet from the other side I don't think she saw the funny side... We got to the toilet proper and used the key again. after the toilet stop Matthew photographed our trusty steed before we boarded the coach for the rest of the journey.

We continued out journey West, and as the coach climbed up the bank on Saddleworth Moor, I'm sure we slowed to around 30mph! Over the other side and we continued at a better speed. Joining the A1(M) then A64 and A19. We arrived at the St. George's field coach park at around 11:45. On the way in we passed a pub called the Mason's Arms a I suggested we ate there. We sat outside on a table where Matthew could see the buses go past and i went in to see a menu. Due to the food being not stuff Matthew liked and the fact that most main meals were £8 plus, we decided to just get 2 plates of chips to share and 3 drinks. A portion of chips cost £3.25 and the food and drink altogether cost £11.30! Whilst we waited for the food, Matthew took a few pictures.

After eating we had to make a decision on what to do. Mum wasn't feel very well, and was concerned with how far she was going to have to walk to get there. I had said we should have walked out of town towards the next bus stop to catch something inbound, but as the decision seemed counter intuitive, we ended up walking into town. It was a warm humid day with hazy sunshine and the walk was hard going. We got as far as Clifford's Tower, where we were struggling to read the York bus map whilst walking and keep Matthew happy. The map consists of coloured numbers by the stops and it was hard to try and work out where buses were actually going in relation to where we were and what buses stopped at the nearest stop. As mum was really struggling today we made the decision to do the York Pullman city tour. There was a bus at the stop G336 CSG, so we got the tickets and boarded the bus.

Unusually, Matthew wanted to sit downstairs and we had to persuade him to go upstairs and sit in the open air. Having not been to York since the early 80's apart from one brief visit to Railtrack to remove a giant camera, doing the tour bus was a good thing. we spent over an hour on the first tour bus doing one complete circuit and then getting off at the railway station. We left mum on the bus so she could go further round towards the shops. As we got off Matthew photographed the tour bus as it pulled off into the distance.

After we got off by the railway station we decided to have a walk around and take a few bus pictures. We decided to walk towards the wall and along Station Road. As we passed under the city wall, we saw a First Volvo double decker on a lay over.

We carried on a short way along Station Road and then got on the wall where it is level with the road. We then walked along the wall towards Nunnery Lane taking some pictures off the wall of buses as we went.

When got off the wall in nunnery lane, We used the facilities in the car park and then crossed the road to catch the next tour bus. Whilst we waited we saw several other York Pullman buses on the 44 service, a coach and also a Routemaster! The next tour bus was E313 MSG. Matthew was a little surprised and didn't get a good picture here. we sat downstars on this bus for a short while. As we learned from the last run the bus stops in St. Leonards Place for a good 10-15 minutes, we got off for a drink and to take pictures.

Back on the bus we went upstairs in the covered section. It was warm, but at least we weren't in direct sunlight. We called mum to see where she was. She hadn't done to much with her feeling ill and was now waiting in front of Clifford's Tower, so we decided to do the bus around to their to meet her. When we got off. we had about an hour and 30 minutes before the coach was leaving. I thought it would be a good idea to get some food before the return journey and to see if we could get one more bus. mum was the only person that knew where Greggs was as she had been before. Matthew was dragging me out in front and I didn't now where I was going. he ended up dragging me down Spurriergate. I eventually got him to stop and we head back towards the Tower and then we saw a sign for a place called Chico's. We didn't find Chico's, but we did find sandwich shop opposite Tesco Express where we did get a rice crispy slice and a Shortbread caramel slice and some pop. I decided to go up towards The Stonebow, which is somewhere I knew I could get the Tour bus from. it just so happened to be where Greggs was and we were able to get some sausage rolls too! Whilst waiting for the tour bus, we saw Volvo B6 40571 on a #12 service.

A few minutes later, required G337 CSG turned up, and we had amanged to get all 3 tour buses out today.

We got off by Clifford's Tower again, and then started to walk back toward the coach park. As we went we saw several buses including a Scraggs (of Stoke) minibus.

We go back to the coach a little early, so we decide to sit down on the bank of the Ouse and eat our sausage rolls before returning to the coach. We set off a fraction before 17:00 On the journey back, we hit traffic outside York, but by the time we were back on the A1(M) we had a clear run. We stop at Birch services again. Where the were a couple of Mayne coaches parked up.

We were back in Newcastle around 20:00 and we walked back to the Vue car park. After dropping Uncle Dave home. We got home around 20:40. today was a good trip and we could have done thing differently, but I think we made the best decision considering we couldn't remember the City or work out which buses went where within the City.
