Trip to Halifax / Huddersfield 10-04-2021

Today Matthew was in the residential unit and he was going to Halifax and Huddersfield. Transdev signs agreement with Arriva to acquire Yorkshire Tiger bus services. I had checked the weather for today and it appeared that the weather was going to be better North of Yorkshire. than it would be throughout the Midlands. As such we gave Matthew a list of places from the North West and from the list Matthew chose Middleton. What we did not check was the roads... Matthew got up around 08:30 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. before Matthew went to Halifax he watched buses out of the window. whilst waiting for the time to go to the day centre, we saw Temple Street Church RX18 GZW.

Later on we went to Halifax in the car. We went downstairs to the car and we set off onto Temple Street where we saw Temple Street Methodist Church minibus DN03 WKK. We turned right onto Smithpool Road and we turned left onto City Road. We ran down the hill and under the railway line into Stoke. We crossed over the A500. We joined the Northbound A500. We joined the M6 at Junction 16 and to motorway wasn't too bad today. At Junction 21A we went East on the M62 As we travelled East around the North ot Manchester we saw Epsom Coaches (National Express) BX65 WCY & Coachmasters P691 XVL. On the M60 we passed 3 x Gordon's coaches, 2 York Pullman coaches, A Tetley's coach, a T&J Coaches coach and East Yorkshire Coaches 71. M62 at Junction 24 and we went North on the A629. We stopped in Elland for dinner at a Cafe on Southgate called The Tea Set. Matthew went to the toilet which I think was meant to be staff only, wewalked through the kitchen and up a very narrow staircase. When matthwe had finished using the facilties he had a breakfast and he washed it down with a can of Coke. When we had finished we then we got back onto the A629 and we drove up the hill into Halifax. We went around the town and we parked up in the council car park by the bus station off Winding Road. Once we had parked up we said goodbye to mum and Matthew went to the toilet. Once he had finished we walked into the bus station and we had a look around at what we could catch. Obe of the first things we saw was First West Yorkshire 37051 on a #576 to Bradford. A short while later we saw it was First West Yorkshire 32462 on a #537 to Huddersfield. We got on the bus and we booked Metro day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the bus station onto Broad Street. We turned left into Commercial Street and we ran through the town centre. At the other end of town we joined the A629 and we ran past the giagantic Halifax Building Society headquarters. We ran down the hill past the First bus garages and down into the valley. We ran into Elland along Ellan Bridge and Huddersfield Road. We turned right into Southgate and then left into Victoria Road. We then left Elland and we climbed up the hill into the next village. Holywell Green. We got stopped for around a minutes whilst wewaited for a tractor to puch a static caravan down a dirt trck off the main road. We passed required First West Yorkshire 32524 on the other #537 turn going towards Halifax. We continued climbing out of the valley, the bus working hard a it went up Stainland and Sowood. At the end of Stainland Road we turned left into Outlane. We continued down New hay Road and we crossed the M62. We then ran the 3 or so miles downhill into Huddersfield town cente. We crossed the ring road and the bus station was on the right just inside the ring road. The bus pulled up in on of the unloading stops at the entrance of the bus station and we got up and got off the bus. Once in the bus station Matthew went to the toilet and we walked through to the other end. Just inside the ring road were around 20 layover stands where buses park up beween duties and there were around 25 stands in the bus station. On layover was First West Yorkshire 30953. We returned to the bus station and we waited for a bus next #314 towards Holmfirth. A few minutes later we saw it was First West Yorkshire 37293 on a #314 to Holmfirth. We got on the bus and we flashed the Metro day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs. We set off out of the bus station and we onto Market Street. We turned right onto High Street and forwards onto Ramsden Street. We turned right onto Peel Street. We turned left onto Princess Street and we forwards onto Alfred Street. We turned right onto the A62 and we turned left into the A616 and we ran through Lockwood. We ran through Taylor Hill and Berry Brow into Honley. We continued through Brockholes to Thongsbridge and up New Mill. We turned right onto the A635 and we ran over into New Mill. We ran through Wooldale. We ran up the hill into Holmfirth. We ran inbto town and we turned right into the bus station where we got up and got off the bus. We headed back into the bus station and Matthew used the toilet and We walked forwards onto Town Gate. We crossed over Victoria Street past old Lloyds Bank which had now closed down. We walked into the west End and we stopped at the bakery to pick up vanilla slice to eat later. We walked back along Victoria Street and forwards onto Town Gate. We went into the bus station and we waited for a bus back up to Huddersfield. A few minutes later we saw South Pennine Community Transport SJ70 HVP on a #351 to Glossop. A few minutes later we saw a bus come around the corner. As it got closer we saw it was First West Yorkshire 47493 on a #308 to Huddersfield. We got on the bus and we flashed the Metro day tickets to the driver before we sat down. The bus set off around the bus station onto the A635. We ran through Wooldale. We turned left onto Springwood Road. We ran into Thongsbridge along Miry Lane. We went out of the other side of Thongsbridge and turned left onto Huddersfield Road into Holmfirth. We ran through Netherthong and we under New Road we went left onto Town Gate went forwards Moor Lane into Wilshaw Moor. We turned right onto Knoll Lane and we ran down the hill to Honley. We turned right onto Oldfield Road. We turned left onto Long Lane and we ran down the hill to Honley Long. We ran up the hill and into Honley. We turned right onto Bradshaw Road and left onto Meltham Road and we turned left on Bradshaw Ave. We turned left onto Bradshaw Road and we turned right Meltham Road. We ran to the bottom of the hill and we turned right onto Westgate. We turned left onto the A6024. We ran to the end and we turned left onto the A616. We ran North through Berry Brow. We turned right onto Waingate and at the top of the hill we turned left onto Bridge Street. We ran forwards onto Newsome Road South and up into Newsome. We turned left onto Church Lane and we crossed the A500 and we ran forwards onto Lockwood Scar. We turned right into Cross Lane and we ran through Primrose Hill. We turned right onto Stile Common Road and left onto Newsome Road. We re-joined the road and we ran forwards onto King's Bridge Road. We turned left onto the Colne Road. We ran up the road and we turned right into the B6432. We joined Colne Road and we turned right onto the A616. As we travelled through Huddersfield. We turned left onto the A62. We turned right onto Westgate and we passed First West Yorkshire 69565 on a #372 to Almondbury. We turned right onto Henry Street and we entered the bus station and we got up and got off the bus and Matthew visited the toilet. First West Yorkshire 30953 was on layover. We had to make a decision as to which one of the buses we were going to do. I asked Matthew and we decided on 30953. We walked around to the exit of the bus station we saw First West Yorkshire 30950 on layover. So the swap was made and 30953 moved up a couple of stands so that the Volvo could be placed on the X63 to Bradford. The bus was now ready so We got on the bus and we flashed the Metro bus day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off out of the bus station onto Market Street and we turned right onto Castlegate. We veered left onto the A641 and we headed Northwards out of town Sheepridge and Fixby. We ran through Toothill. As we travelled through Brighouse and we headed into Bailiff Bridge. We ran through Wyke and we continued up to Low Moor. We crossed over Odsal we continued North through Bankfoot. We ran up to Bradford and we turned right onto Croft Street and we turned left onto Nelson Street and we entered the Interchange where we got up and got off the bus. We saw First West Yorkshire 32077 on layover. We crossed over at the crossing and we headed to the toilet. We waited for a bus towards Bramley. A few minutes later we saw Transdev Keighley 2763 on a #67 to Keighley. As it got closer we saw it was First West Yorkshire 35214 on a #72 to Leeds. We got on the bus and we flashed the Metro day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs. We set off out of the Interchange onto Bridge Street we saw First West Yorkshire 37713 on a #72 to Bradford. We turned right onto the A6181 and we ran down through Barkerend and into Laisterdyke. We continued down through to Thornbury and we ran down through Pudsey. We ran alongside the B6157 and to Stanningley. We travelled up Bramley. We got up and got off the bus and we headed into Morrisons. We decided to got to the toilet in the garage around the corner. Matthew used the facilities and then we brought Matthew brough a some of small bottles of Coke, a double Milky Way and a Drumstick lolly. We went to the till and paid for the good before loading up the trip bag. We set off on foot to Centre. We walked onto A657. We decided he wanted to walk Centre and wait for the next #14 towards Leeds. We walked up the street and we sat in the stone bus shelter on Rutland Square. A few minutes later we saw a bus approaching. A short time later we saw First Potteries 35618 on a #14 to Leeds. We got on the bus and we booked to flashed the Metro bus day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off along Stocks Hill onto Lower Town Street. We turned right onto Waterloo Lane and right onto Raynville Road. We turned left onto Outgang Lane and right onto Raynville Road. We turned right onto Armley Ridge Road and and we ran up towards Kirkstall and we ran through Armley Ridge. We turned left onto Armley Ridge Road end and we turned left onto the A647. We ran up the hill and into Armley. We turned left onto Armley Road. After running the hill through New Wortley. We ran onto the A58. At Leeds we turned right onto Westgate. We ran forwards onto The Headrow where we got up and got off the bus. We set off on foot across the car park and onto The Headrow and forwards onto Eastgate. We turned right onto the A61 and we walked up Dyer Street and into the bus station. We saw Transdev Harrogate 1901 on a #36 to Harrogate. This bus is currently on loan to Transdev Harrogate. Afterwards we went to the facilities and Matthew used the toilet. we waited for a bus next #6 towards Headingley. A few minutes later we saw it was First Potteries 35293 on a #6 to Holt Park. We got on the bus and we flashed the Metro bus day ticket to the driver for the final time today before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off out of the bus station onto the A61. We turned left onto Eastgate and forwards onto The Headrow. We turned right onto Albion Street and forwards onto Woodhouse Lane. We ran forwards onto Woodhouse and we ran down the hill into Hyde Park. We ran forwards onto the A660 and headed through Headingley and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we walked up We past the old Elinor Lupton Centre is now a new Wetherspoons. Later on we returned to Fenton by car. We set off onto A660 We travelled South through Woodhouse. We continued to Blenheims and down into Leeds and we saw First West Yorkshire 35280 on a #6 to Holt Park. We rsn forwards onto the A64 and we joined the Southbound A61. We went past the bus station. We carried on down to the M621. We joined the Westbound M62 and we ran Westwards to the M60 through the roadworks and back onto the M62. We left the M62 to go onto the Southbound M6. At junction 16 we left the M6 and went South down the A500 and we turned left onto City Road. We ran up the hill into Fenton and we turned right onto Smithpool Road, We turned left onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. Matthew went upstairs to his roon to watch TV and chill out. Matthew went up to his room to use his computer and watch buses. For tea Matthew had a chicken burger from kfc. He also had some fries and a cup of Coke. Once Matthew had finished his breakfast he chilled out in his room until it was time to go to the day centre. We saw Lucky Seven BX10 CPZ.

Matthew used his computer and watched buses out of the window. We saw First Potteries 67152 on a #11 to Newcastle.

When it was time to go to uncle Dave's we went downstairs and we got in the car set off onto onto Temple Street and we turned left onto Smithpool Road and we turned right onto Whieldon Road and we dropped uncle Dave. Having adjusted uncle Dave's calender. A couple of hours later staff came to escort Matthew back home by car. We got in the car and we set off onto Whieldon Road and we turned onto Smithpool Road. We turned right onto Temple Street past the new building under construction, which is now getting near to completion. We continued back to the residential unit. Matthew went back to the room and went on his computer. Later on Matthew had a bath and then had toast for supper. He then chilled out in his room until bedtime around 23:00... Mark.
