Trip to Wolverhampton / Gornal Wood 09-12-2023

Today we decided to re-visit Wolverhampton. Not much research was done other than to check the weather, which was for cold and sunny. Matthew woke up at 09:00 and had his Medication. He got up around 10:00 and had toast for breakfast. We got in the car and we set off around 10:50. We set off through Blurton and we ran along Beaconsfield Drive. We turned left onto Church Road and at the roundabout we veered left onto Blurton Road past the former Coral betting shop. We ran through Blurton and into Heron Cross and over the A50. At Heron Cross lights we turned left onto Grove Road. We ran forwards onto Wheildon Road and we picked up uncle Dave. Once we had picked up uncle Dave, we continued down Wheildon Road and we turned right onto Wheildon Road. We turned right onto the Southbound A500 and we ran down to the motorway. On the way we passed Guru SD14 YDJ. We joined the Southbound M6 at junction 15 and we ran towards the West Midlands. As we travelled Southwards we saw Selwyn's BV67 JXN(#540), Alfa 111, Bruce's Coaches BF21 CZX(#590), an unidentfied Beat The Street coach, an unidentified Johnsons coach, an unidentified Anderson Travel coach and taxi minibus YB19 ZRX. We came off the M6 at junction 11 and we headed towards Wolverhampton. We turned left onto the B4484 and we headed Southwards. We turned right onto Prestwood Road West and left onto Victoria Road. We ran forwards onto Graiseley Lane and we turned right onto Wolverhampton Road. We turned left onto New Cross Avenue and left onto Wednesfield Way and left into Bentley Bridge Leisure Park. We headed to the North end of the site and we parked up outside of the Nickelodeon pub. We headed into the pub and Matthew went to the toilet. We ordered the food and we went to collect the carvery. Matthew had a small carvery with pigs in blankets and a Yorkshire pudding washed down with a glass of Coke. When we had finished we headed to the canal and we crossed over the canal and North onto Wolverhampton. Initially we headed Eastwards to look for a stop. We saw National Express West Midlands 2026 on a #59 to Wolverhampton.

When we could not see a stop we went back Westwards. As we were crossing New Cross Avenue we saw Lets Go YX63 ZXW o n a #65 to Wolverhamton.

We crossed New Cross Avenue and we waited for a bus. As short time later we saw a bus approaching. We saw it was National Express West Midlands 4993 on a #59 to Wolverhampton.

We got on the bus and we booked nBus Day Tickets at £4.50 each before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off along Wolverhampton Road past New Cross hospital. We headed West and we turned right onto the A4124. We ran back into town along the dual carriageway and we crossed under the railway line. We crossed the ring road and we ran along the contraflow lane adjacent to the ring road that took us straight to the entrance of the bus station. Once in the bus station we got up and got off the bus. We headed straight to the toilet and afterwards we went outside the bus station. Matthew indicated that he wanted to go to Wetherspoons. I said we could go later on when we return as we had only just left a pub! We went back into the bus station and we looked for something to catch whilst we were looking we saw National Express West Midlands coach SH233 on a #210 service from Gatwick Airport.

We headed up to the South Eastern corner and we saw Arriva Midlands 3737 departing on a #9 to Bridgnorth. Behind that was a Rotala Diamond bus. As we got closer we saw it was Rotala Diamond 32326 on a #27A to Gornal Wood. We decided to do this so we got on the bus and we flashed the nBus Day tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off ouf of the bus station and we turned left onto Pipers Row. We crossed over Bilston Street and we headed down St George's Parade. We turned left onto Snow Hill and we ran forwards onto the A459. We ran around the one-way system before turning left to continue on the A459. We turned right onto Draton Street and left onto Lower Villiers Street. We continued Southwards onto Upper Villiers Street and we turned left onto the Eastboud A4039. We turned right onto Ednam Road and left onto Patricia Avenue. We turned right onto Dudding Road and we turned right to head Southwards down Park Hall Road. We turned left onto Sherrington Drive and we turned right to re-join the Southbound A459. We travelled Southwards for a few stops nefore turning right onto Northway. We continued along Northway to the end we we turned left onto the A463 and into Sedgley. We turned right onto the A459 and we turned right onto Vicar Street. We joined the Westbound A463 and we turned left onto Cotwall End Road. We turned right onto Sandyfields Road and we turned left onto Longfellow Road. We turned right onto Colleridge Rise and left onto The Straits. We ran forwards onto Louise Street and through the centre of Gornal Wood. We turned right into Bank Road and we entered a 3 stop bus terminus in a triangle in the road. We got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took a picture of Rotala Diamond 32326 as it continued towards Dudley.

We headed across to the Spar shop across the road and we brought some Irn Bru, some shops own Cola and a couple of Chocolate bars. We headed across to the bus stop on the opposite side of the road and we saw that there was a bus to Dudley due in a few minutes. Whilst we waited Matthew drank the shops own Cola. On the other side of the road we saw Rotala Diamond 20888 on a #223 to Dudley.

A few minutes later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw Rotala Diamond 32316 on a #17 to Dudley.

We got on the bus and we flashed the nBus Day tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off along Zoar street and left onto Bull Street. We turned left onto Himley Road and and we turned left into Central Drive. At the end we turned left onto Grosvenor Road. We turned right onto Corncrake Road and right onto Milking Bank. At the roundabout we turned left onto Himley Road. At the roundabout we turned left onto the B4176. When we got to the edge of Dudley we turned left onto Priory Street and left onto Prior Road. We turned left onto Ednam Road and right onto the Broadway. We turned right into Castle Street and left into the bus station. We got up and got off the bus and we had a look around. We considered what we might catch. We headed towards the layover area and on the way we saw National Express West Midlands 4958 in between runs on the #74 service.

We had a look in the layover area and we saw Rotala Diamond 32316 in the layover area before doing a #17 to Sourbridge.

We walked up to the other end of the bus station and we saw Banga Travel YX61 BXF on a #81 to Wolverhampton.

Matthew started drinking his Irn Bru and we spotted bus that he wanted to do. We saw it was National Express West Midlands 4975 on a #74 to Birmingham.

We headed over to the stop and we got on the bus. We flashed the nBus Day ticket to the driver before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off out of the bus station and we ran past the work on the new interchange to be opened in 2025. We turned left onto the B4171. We turned right onto the A459 and we crossed over the roundabout. We crossed the A4123 and we headed North Eastwards through Dudley Port up to Great Bridge. We turned right onto Great Bridge Street and we ran through the town. At the other end we saw Phillips YK18 GXM parked up. We ran forwards onto Dudley Street and we turned right onto High Street by the YMCA. We ran for around 2/3 of a mile down West Bromwich High Street and we turned right onto St Michael Street. We entered the bus station and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we headed to the toilet. We decided that the next bus was going to be back to Wolverhampton. On the way to Stand S we stopped at the cafe. The cafe was about to close so we brought a treacle tart to take away. We came out of the shop and Matthew sat down and ate the treacle tart. We headed over to stand S. On the way over we saw National Express West Midlands 4738 parked up on layover.

We had around 5 minutes to wait. Whilst we waited we saw National Express West Midlands 4955 on a #5 to Sutton Coldfield.

A short time later we saw our bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was National Express West Midlands 5401 on a #79 to Wolverhampton.

We got on the bus and we flashed the nBus ticket to to the driver before we went upstairs. The rear of the top deck was empty so Matthew took a picture inside National Express West Midlands 5401 before we sat down.

We set off out of bus station onto Holyhead Road and we turned right onto the the A461. We turned left onto Trouse Lane and we headed North. We continued up the A462 for around 1/4 of a mile and then we turned left onto Woden Road West. We turned right onto Dangerfield Lane and at the end we turned right onto the Eastbound A4038. We ran into Darlaston and we turned left onto St Lawrence Way. After doing a u-turn at the next roundabout we headed South and stopped at the bus terminus outside the Asda store. After a brief stopped we went south onto the A4038 and we ran Westwards over the Walsall canal onto the A41. We ran then last mile or so into Bilston and then we crossed over the A463. We continued along the A41 through Ettingshakll and to the edge of Wolverhampton. We joined the Northbound A4150 and we entered the bus staion from the South Eastern corner. As we came into the bus station we saw Banga Travel YX60 FUE on layover. We got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we headed out of the bus station and across onto Lichfield Street. We crossed the street and went into the pub. Matthew went to the toilet and afterwards we went to the bar to get a drink. Matthew had a glass of Coke. When we had finished we headed back down Lichfield Street and back into the bus station. We headed to the stop to wait for bus back towards Wednesfield. A short time later we saw a bus come on stand. We saw it was National Express West Midlands 2076 on a #59 to Ashmore Park.

We got on the bus and we flashed the nBus Day ticket to the driver for the final time today before sitting down towards the back of the bus. Whilst awaiting departure we saw MX10 KNO. The bus set off out of the bus station and onto Piers Row. We turned left into Tower street and right into Market Street before turning right again into Queen Street and back onto Piper Row. We went past the Slade Rooms and we joined the Northbound ring road for a few yards. We double back on ourselves before turning left into Wednesfield Way and going under the railway line. We carried on along a dual carriageway that had some well done graffiti on a wooden board on the Southern side of the road. After about a 1000 yard we turned left onto Wolverhampton Road and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took another picture of National Express West Midlands 2076 as it carried on towards Ashmore Park.

Once off the bus we crossed over Wolverhampton Road and New Cross Avenue before crossing over the canal. We walked past the pub to the shops and we met up with mum outside of B&M. Mum need to get something from Home Bargain so we drove around the Car Par to the East side and parked up. behind us was blue minibus BG72 MFJ.

Matthew went in with mum and got a bottle of diet Coke. When we had finished we got in the car and we set off onto Wednesfield Way. We followed the road to the North and we turned left onto Lichfield Road. We turned left onto Nechells Lane and right onto Alfred Squire Road. We ran forwards onto Rookery Street and we stopped at the chip shop. Matthew had ssausage chips and gravy washed down with a bottle of Coke. When we had finished we carried on along Rookery Street and we ran forwards onto Wolverhampton Road. We turned left onto New Cross Avenue and left onto Wednesfield Way. We turned right onto Nechells Lane and we headed Southwards. We turned left onto the A454 and we headed Eastwards for 3 miles. We joined the Northbound M6 and we ran through Staffordshire. Returning home up the M6 we saw Sky Coaches coach. We came off the M6 at junction 15 and we joined the Northbound A500 We ran through Hanford and into Stoke. We crossed over the A500 and we headed back South and onto Whieldon Road. We stopped at uncle Dave's to Drop him off and Matthew drank some of uncle Rob's Irn Bru and used the toilet. We update his calendar. We got back in the car and we went down Wheildon Road and we stopped at the clock tower. After a brief stop we ran up Wheildon Road past the former Regent which is now an Indian Restaurant. We ran forwards onto Grove Road and we saw green minibus R482 NDM parked up. We turned right onto Blurton Road and we crossed over the A50. We continued through Blurton and at the roundabout we veered right onto Church Street. We turned right onto the A5035 and back to Blurton. Later on we did some more of the Blog and wrote an e-mail. Matthew ate a peice of chocolate fudge cake and custard and we chilled out on the sofa until bedtime around 00:00... Mark
