Today Matthew was in the residential unit and later on he was going to Burnley. We got to see the the new Mellor bodied minibuses there were going to operating Transdev Burnley services 'Ribble Country' routes are. We had checked the weather and it was for heavy rain all over the North West and the Midlands.. Matthew got up around 08:00 and had toast for breakfast. before Matthew went to the day centre he watched buses out of the window. whilst waiting for the time to go to the dentist, we saw City Cabs EK15 KVA.

Matthew chilled out in his room until it was time to go to Burnley. We went downstairs and we got in a car. We set off onto Temple Street and right onto Smithpool Road. We turned left onto City Road and we headed down the road into Stoke. We joined the Northbound A500. We ran North up to the M6 and we continued North as far as junction 20. we ran North up to the M65. We saw an unidentified Vision Travel coach, an unidentified Alba Travel coach, an unidentified Ashcroft's coach, an unidentified Hollinshead coach, Hollinshead DH13 HOL, an unidentified Grayway coach, an unidentified Carvers coach, Playbus K888 BWU, an unidentified Doig's of Glasgow coach and an unidentified King's Ferry coach. When we got to Junction 29 we came off the M6 and joined the Eastbound M65. We came off the M65 a junction early accidentally onto the A679, and we ran into town along Accrington Road past Rose Grove railway station. We joined the A671 and we followed the road to the right onto Trafalgar Street. At the roundabout we turned left onto Manchester Road and we turned right onto Finsley Gate. We parted on the car park by Red Lion Street and we walk across the road. Mum went to the toilet in the bus station. Whilst we waited we saw dud Transdev Burnley 62 on a #69 to Nelson. Once we had parked up we walked over to the bus station to use the toilet. After using the facilities we walked onto Croft Street. We carried onto the the cafe and we sat down. Matthew had a sausage sandwich washed down with a can of Coke. Once we had finished eating we said goodbye to mum and we walked around the bus station. We saw Transdev Burnley 2010 parked up in one of the layover bays. Leaving the bus station was Transdev Burnley 75 on the #6 to Colne. We headed back around the bus station It was required Transdev Burnley 163 on the #8 to Bacup. A few minutes later we saw the approaching. As it got closer we saw that it was dud Transdev Burnley 264 on a M4 to Keighley. We got on the bus and we brought a WY bus only day tickets at £8 before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off out of the bus station onto Croft Street and we turned right onto Yorkshire Street. We turned left at the roundabout onto the A682 and we headed Northwards out of town. We continued up the main road to Nelson and we turned right into the interchange. After a brief stop we re-joined the A682 and we ran Northwards before turning right onto the A56. We continued into Colne and we stopped on the main street to pick up passengers. We ran along Keighley Road and at the roundabout we turned right onto the A6068. We ran through Laneshaw Bridge and we continued over the border into Yorkshire. We ran through Cowling and Lanes End and into Cross Hills. We ran forwards onto the B6265. We turned left into Airedale General Hospital and we did a circuit of the grounds. We re-joined the Eastbound B6265 and we ran through Steeton and Utley. The road turned Southwards and we joined the A629. In the town centre we turned left into Cavendish Street and right into Lawkholme Crescent and into the bus station and we got up and got off the bus and Matthew went to the toilet. The bus came around the corner into the bus station and we saw it was required Transdev Keighley 2777 on a #66 to Skipton. When it came on stand we decided to do this as far as Steeton. We got on the bus and we flashed the a WY bus only day tickets to the driver before we went upstairs and sat down. We set off out of the bus station and we turned right onto the A629 and forwards onto the B6265. We ran up the hill and into Utley We ran North through Steeton and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we crossed over the road and we walked to the nearest Southbound bus stop. Whilst we waited for the bus Matthew had a flake out of the supplies in the trip bag. As it got closer we saw that it was required Transdev Keighley 2763 on a #66 to Keighley. We got on the bus and we flashed a WY bus only day tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. We set off down the B6265 and we headed South into Utley. We joined the A629 and we ran through Keighley. In the town centre we turned left into Cavendish Street and right into Lawkholme Crescent and into the bus station where we got up and got off the bus. One of the buses was Transdev Keighley 53 on layover. A few minutes later we saw Transdev Keighley 1847 on a #67 to Bradford. We got on the bus and we flashed the a WY bus only day tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off onto Cavendish Street. We turned left onto the Southbound A629 and we ran forwards onto the B6143. We ran through Knowle Park and down the bank into Ingrow. We continued into Cross Roads and into Flappit Spring and road we turned left onto the B6144. We went through Cullingworth. We turned left onto the B6429 and right onto Roydwood Terrace where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we crossed over the road to the stop opposite to wait for the next #67 towards Keighley. We set off onto the B6429. We turned right onto Church Street and forwards onto George's Square we went to the pub on the corner. Matthew went to the toilet and afterwards had a glass of Coke. We set off on foot to the bus stop all the way onto Church Street onto George's Square. We crossed over the B6429. We continued onto Roydwood Terrace. A few minutes later we saw Transdev Keighley 2714 on a #67 to Keighley. We got on the bus and we flashed a WY bus only day tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. We set off down Roydwood Terrace onto Greenside Lane and we ran down the hill the B6429. We turned right onto the B6144. We ran through Flappit Spring and we turned right onto the A629. We climbed the hill into Cross Roads and we ran down Ingrow into Keighley. We turned right into Cavendish Street and right into Lawkholme Crescent and into the bus station and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew went to the toilet. As it got closer we saw that it was Transdev Keighley 1825 on a K7 to Oakworth. We got on the bus and we flashed the WY Metro bus only day tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off onto Cavendish Street. We turned left onto the Southbound A629 and we ran forwards onto the B6143. We continued South Westwards through Damems and towards Oakworth and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we walked around the corner to the Co-operative store and we bought a couple of chocolate bars. We hung around in the village for about 20 minutes and we saw Transdev Keighley 1846 on a K7 to Keighley. We got on the bus and we flashed the WY Metro bus only day tickets to the driver for the final time today before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the B6143. We continued South Westwards through Damems and towards Keighley. We turned right into Cavendish Street and right into Lawkholme Crescent and into the bus station and we got up and got off the bus and we sat on the benches at the end to tea Matthew had a chicken burger from kfc. He also had some fries and a cup of Coke. When we had finished we returned to the bus station. On layover was Transdev Keighley 151. We crossed over Towngate to the Airedale shopping centre. We went into the shopping centre and we into the shopping centre and we got in the car. Mum had brought sausage rolls and Matthew had a bottle of Irn Bru. We set off out of the bus station onto the Northbound A629. We joined the Westbound A6068 and we ran to Colne and joined the Westbound M65. We continued to the edge of Preston and we joined the Southbound M6. We ran through Lancashire and Greater Manchester into Cheshire and we came off the M6 at junction 16. We ran South through Longport and Etruria to Stoke. We came off the A500 onto City Road. We ran up the hill into Fenton and we turned right onto Smithpool Road. We turned left into Temple Street and back to the residential unit. We went upstairs and Matthew returned to his room to chill out. He watched television and used his computer. Matthew had a bath and then had toast for supper. He then chilled out in his room until bedtime around 23:00... Mark.

Today Matthew decided to re-visit Burnley. He had chosen to go to Burnley earlier in the week and we did a little bit of research into Tickets and what buses we might catch. Matthew got up around 10:00 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. After getting ready around 11:30 we set off through Blurton along Beaconsfield Drive and we stopped to pick up a friend. We continued along Beaconsfield Drive and we turned left onto Church Road and left onto Blurton Road. We ran up to Heron Cross and we joined the Westbound A50. We ran up to Sideway and we turned left onto the Southbound A500. As we travelled down the A500 we saw an unidentified Stanley Coaches coach. We got on the M6 at junction 15 and we headed Northwards. Seen on the M6 were white minibus YS18 EBA, Manchester (?) FC HK56 UZO, Paul's of Stoke Y16 POS, East Yorkshire 4(#540), Shearings 237 and sliver minibus SF03 OTZ. We came off the M6 at junction 21A and we travelled Eastwards along the M62. Seen on the M62 were Travelmaster, an unidentified Ted ? Coaches coach, an unidentified Ellison's coach, Park's of Hamilton (NX) BV67 JYW(#540) & Selwyn' s(NX) BM68 AHO(#060). We ran forwards onto the clockwise M60 and we came off at junction 18 onto the Northbound M66. As we travelled North we saw Transdev Burnley 2753 on a an X43 to Manchester and white minibus CX55 ASU. We ran forwards onto the A56 and we joined the Eastbound M65. We came off the M65 at the next junction, but there was a road closure at Rose Grove. The diversion took us through Lanes's End and back onto the Northbound A56! We re-joined the M65 and this time we came off at junction 10. We joined Accrington Road and we turned left onto Cog Lane. We turned left onto Rossendale Road and we veered left on to Moseley Road. We ran down Rose Hill and we turned right onto the A682. We crossed over the roundabout and we ran into the town centre. We turned right onto Finsley gate and left onto Parker Lane. We turned right by the police station and we entered the car park. Once we had parked up we walked over to the bus station to use the toilet. After using the facilities we walked onto Croft Street. on the way to the cafe we saw Transdev Burnley 1043 on a #1 to the Stoops Estate.

We carried onto the the cafe and we sat down. Matthew had a sausage sandwich washed down with a can of Coke. Once we had finished eating we said goodbye to mum and we walked around the bus station to take a few pictures. We saw Pilkington Bus YJ06 YSO parked up in one of the layover bays.

As we were walking around the bus station we saw the rear display on Transdev Burnley 244 that stated the M4 to Keighley was leaving in 3 minutes time! Matthew had expressed an interest in catching the bus to Keighley so we quickly walked around the side and into the bus station. Matthew took a picture of Transdev Burnley 244 before we went to get on it.

We got on the bus and we brought a Lancashire 1 Duo ticket at £8 before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off out of the bus station onto Croft Street and we turned right onto Yorkshire Street. We turned left at the roundabout onto the A682 and we headed Northwards out of town. We continued up the main road to Nelson and we turned right into the interchange. After a brief stop we re-joined the A682 and we ran Northwards before turning right onto the A56. We continued into Colne and we stopped on the main street to pick up passengers. We ran along Keighley Road and at the roundabout we turned right onto the A6068. We ran through Laneshaw Bridge and we continued over the border into Yorkshire. We ran through Cowling and Lanes End and into Cross Hills. We ran forwards onto the B6265 and we passed Transdev Keighley 1077 on a #62 to Leeds airport. We turned left into Airedale General Hospital and we did a circuit of the grounds. We re-joined the Eastbound B6265 and we ran through Steeton and Utley. The road turned Southwards and we joined the A629. In the town centre we turned left into Cavendish Street and right into Lawkholme Crescent and into the bus station. We got up and we waited for the bus to empty out before Matthew took a picture inside Transdev Burnley 244.

We got off the bus and Matthew went to the toilet. Afterwards we had a look around and took a few bus pictures. We saw Transdev Keighley 2716 on a #60 to Leeds.

We decided to do this bus so we waited in the queue. When the bus had been readied for service we got on the bus and we booked WY bus only day tickets at £6.70 each before we went upstairs and sat down. The bus set off out of the bus station and we turned right onto Cavendish Street. We turned left onto the A6035 and we ran past Keighley railway station. We turned right onto Dalton Lane and we continued out of town past distant gas holder before we turned left onto Wenning Street. At the roundabout we turned right onto the A65o and we ran fast for a few miles before turning left onto the B6265. We ran up the hill and at the top we turned right onto the B6265 past the Bradford & Bingley site that I used to pick up boxes from. We ran through Crossflatts and we continued through down the road into the centre of Bingley. Matthew wanted to travel further on. As we came our of the other side of Bingley we saw First West Yorkshire 32460 on a #622 to Bingley. We turned left onto Leonard Street and we turned right to re-join the A650. We had another fast run along the duel carriageway and we followed the A650 to the left at the next roundabout. We ran into Saltaire and we veered left onto Kirkgate and we ran into the centre of Shipley. We turned right into Market Square and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took another picture of Transdev Keighley 2716 before it continued towards Leeds.

We crossed over the square and we visited Greggs. We picture up a couple of cans of Coke and we headed back to the bus stops. As we headed back we saw Arriva Yorkshire 2803 on a #679 to Hirst Wood.

We got on the bus and we flashed the WY Metro bus only day tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the square and we turned left onto Kirkgate. We turned right onto Wycliffe Road. We turned right onto Wycliffe Gardens and we turned left onto Saltaire Road. We turned right onto Baker Street and left onto Caroline Street. We ran forwards onto Dallam Avenue and we got up and got of the bus next to Hirst Lane. Matthew took another picture of Arriva Yorkshire 2803 as it continued into the Hirst Wood estate.

Once of the bus we we headed up to the main road on foot to catch a bus towards Keighley. We set off up Hirst Lane and we turned right onto Carlton Road. We crossed over the A650 and we stood at the bus stop outside the Shell garage. Matthew ate a Freddo caramel whilst we waited for the next bus to arrive. A few minutes later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was Transdev Keighley 1811 on a #662 to Keighley.

We got on the bus and we flashed the WY Metro bus only day tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We called mum to let us know we would need picking up from Oakworth. We set off along the A650 and at the roundabout we turned left onto the B6265. We ran along the old road into Bingley and we continued into Crossflatts. We crossed over the A650 and we continued Northwards up the B6265. We ran through Sandbeds and Riddlesden and we crossed over the A650 and we ran into Keighley down the A6035. We crossed over the railway line and we turned right into Cavendish Street, We turned left into Lawkholme Crescent and into the bus station. We got up and got off the bus and Matthew was trying to steer us to catch something else. We saw Transdev Keighley 1847 on a K7 to Oakworth.

We continued into the centre of Oakworth and we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we walked around the corner to the Co-operative store and we bought a couple of chocolate bars. We wen out and we waited for mum to come and pick us up. We hung around in the village for about 20 minutes and we saw Transdev Keighley 1844 on a K7 to Oakworth.

A short time later we saw Transdev Keighley 158 on a K10 to Oakworth. After a while mum appeared and we got in the car. We turned around, as we needed diesel we headed back onto the B6143 and into Keighley. We turned right onto Bridge Street and left onto Marley Street. We turned left onto Sun Street and we stopped at Morrison petrol station. After filling up we went to the supermarket to use the toilets as it had been a while since our last visit and we had a 2 hour journey back home. After using the toilet we set off out of Morrisons and we went North up the A6035. We turned right onto the A650 and we ran fast through the Airedale valley. We continued along the A650 through Saltaire and Shipley. We turned left onto Birklands Road and left onto Manor Lane. We turned right onto Sunny Bank and at the bottom of the road we ran forwards onto the A6037. We ran to the East of Bradford and we saw 69478 on a #686 to Brighouse. We joined the Southbound A650 and we turned right onto Prospect Street. We ran to the end and we turned left onto the A641. We veered left onto the A6177 and we joined the Southbound M606. We joined the Southbound M62 and we crossed over the Pennines. To the North of Manchester we ran forwards onto the anti-clockwise M60. We ran forwards onto the M62 and we saw Platinum Travel YS17 CKA. We ran to junction 10 and we joined the Southbound M6. As we travelled Southwards we passed Dartline Y20 DLC. We came off the A500 ans we ran Southwards through Talke. We continued through Longport and Etruria and through Stoke. We came off the A500 at Sideway and we went Eastwards along the A50. We came off the A50 at Longton and we headed to Z Carz to see what was parked up this evening. The spare ground was bus free and we turned left onto Willow Row. In the compound we saw Z Carz Fiat minibus WV56 VRR.

We turned around and got back onto the A50 and we went Westwards to Heron Cross. We turned left onto Blurton Road and we ran through Blurton. We ran forwards onto Church Street and we turned right into Beaconsfield Drive. We got home around 20:15. For a late tea we had sausages, mash and carrots followed by jam filled shortbread biscuits. We spent time doing the e-mails and doing the Blog. We chilled out on the computer and watching telly until 01:00... Mark

Trip to The Burnley Big Bus Bash 23-07-2017

Today we decided to go to the The Burnley Big Bus Bash bus rally in Burnley. It was an event run by Transdev to promote the new buses being introduced on the Mainline services Padiham & Colne and other point beyond. We checked the weather for today and it was for mainly cloudy weather with the chance of some rain. Matthew got up around 09:30 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. We set off around 11:00 and we ran onto the A5035. We turned right onto Stanley Matthews way and we got onto the Westbound A50. We ran North up the A500 into Stoke and we ran into the town centre. We ran around the one-way system and we parked up on South Wolfe Street. We decided that we should have dinner first so we could go straight to the bus depot. We walked around the corner onto Church Street and we ate at the Stoke Cafe. Matthew went to the toilet whilst mum ordered the food. Matthew had a small breakfast washed down with a can of Coke. After we had finished eating we walked around the corner to the car and we set off around the one-way system onto Church Street. We turned right onto Shelton old Road and at the bottom we turned left onto the Northbound A500. We ran up to the M6 and we got onto the Northbound M6. We ran North for around 30 miles up to junction 21A and we then went Eastwards along the M62. We got onto the M60 and we continued clockwise around the North of Manchester. We joined the Northbound M66 and we ran past Bury and we continued North onto the A56. We passed nearby Accrington and we then got onto the Eastbound M65. We ran past Burnley and we came into town from the North end as we came off the M65 at junction 12. We went Eastwards along the A682 link road and then at the next roundabout we went South down the A682. We ran through Brierfield and when we got to Ruskin Street. We did a cicrle of the depot whilst we looked for somewhere to park and we ended getting back onto the A682 and turned left onto Ruskin Road. We stopped the car to get out and we said goodbye to mum who was off to do some shopping whilst we went to the bus depot. We walked back to the front side of the depot and we saw one of the new buses pull up outside the depot. It was Transdev Burnley & Pendle 261 on a M1 service to Colne.

We managed to find out by asking around that buses were operating between the depot and the bus station approximately every 20 minutes. We waited at the stop outside and a few minutes and a couple of buses appeared. First we saw Ribble double decker 1775. We also saw Blackburn Transport double decker 8.

The buses both parked up in the depot, so we decided to have a walk around the depot. There was only one way in and out of the depot through the main shed. This was kept empty with a few exceptions as to allow vehicles to come and go into the main part of the depot which was an open courtyard. There were a couple of other small sheds off this courtyard where thing like the bus wash was located. In the first shed 1543 was running up and down one side where you could pay to have a short drive off the bus. Also in this shed was Burnley & Pendle 66.

We walked out into the main courtyard in which most of the buses were being displayed. In the yards we saw Transdev Yorkshire Coastliner double decker 3635.

There seemed to be quite a few different buses from around the different Transdev garages. Representing Intack depot was Transdev Lancashire United Versa 233.

There were also quite a few different preserved buses on display. In the yard was Ribble single decker 135 in early Stagecoach livery.

Back out the depot was one of the new buses for which the launch bus rally had been arranged. It was Transdev Burnley & Pendle 249.

We decided it was time to go out and ride on a bus or two. Whilst we waited we took a few more pictures. In the main repair shops was Transdev Burnley & Pendle double decker 2002.

A few minutes later Ribble double decker 1775 appeared after returning from the bus station. Whilst the bus was emptying out we stood in the reservation in the middle of the road to get a picture of Ribble 1775.

The bus emptied out and started to load up again. We got on the bus and we went upstairs. A few minutes later we set off Northwards up the A682. At the next big junction we turned right onto Casterton Avenue and we ran Eastwards to the Burnley Lane part of town. We turned right onto Briercliffe Road and we ran Southwards towards town. We joined the A682 by the church and Duke of York pub and we continued towards town. We crossed over the canal and we ran past Morrisons before turning right into Yorkshire Street. We turned left into Croft Street and we stopped at the end at the drop off stop and the bus unloaded. Once off the bus we walked into the bus station and Matthew used the toilet. We let Ribble 1775 go in the hope of getting something different back to the depot. This paid off as a few minutes later we saw GM Buses coach 81 stop outside on Croft Street. A few minutes later it cam into the bus station and Matthew got a picture of GM Buses 81.

We got on the coach and we sat down towards the rear. Whilst we were waiting for the coach to depart we saw First West Yorkshire 69581 on a #592 to Halifax.

A few minutes later we set off out of the bus station onto Croft Street and we turned right onto Yorkshire Street. We turned left onto the A682 and we ran out of town. We went up the hill past Morrisons and over the canal. We past the Duke of York and we continued up the A682 and we saw ABC coach PO16 HSA. A few hundred yard up the road we pulled into the stop outside the depot. There was a low ceiling above Matthew's seat where the ducting for the ventilation was, and Matthew stood up quickly and banged his head! We let the coach empty out and matthew took a picture inside GM Buses 81.

We had another quick look around the depot whilst we waited for a different bus to work. Burnley & Pendle 66 had started up so we asked someone on board if it was going to work. They said it was doing a single one-way trip, after they had been through the yard and packed up their stall in the courtyard. I asked when they were leaving and they said in around 10 minutes! We decided to take a few more pictures whilst we waited for the bus to depart. In the main maintenance shops was Transdev Burnley & Pendle Versa 269.

We went outside to wait for the single decker to depart towards Burnley. Whilst we waited we saw Blackburn Transport 8 parked up outside the garage.

A few minutes later Burnley & Pendle 66 pulled out of the garage and stopped by the entrance of the depot. We got on the bus and we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off out of the garage and onto the A682 and we ran Southwards into town. In town we turned right onto Yorkshire Street. We turned right onto Croft Street and we stopped at the set down stop outside the bus station. We crossed the road to get a better view and Matthew took another picture of Burnley & Pendle 66 before it returned to to the bus depot.

We were hopefully going to get a bus a back to the depot. Matthew went to the shop and brought some chocolate and a can of Coke. We went back into the bus station and we sat and waited for another bus to appear. A few minutes later required Blackburn Transport 8 appeared on a return service to the depot.

We got on the bus bus and we went upstairs. The rear of the bus was empty so Matthew took a picture inside Blackburn Transport 8 before we sat down.

A few minutes later we set off out of the bus station onto Croft Street and we turned right onto Yorkshire Street. We turned left onto the A682 and we ran out of town. We went up the hill past Morrisons and over the canal. We past the Duke of York and we continued up the A682 and we saw ABC coach PO16 HSA. A few hundred yard up the road we pulled into the stop outside the depot. We got off the bus and Matthew got another picture of Blackburn Transport 8.

It was now 16:00 and we had heard that Blackburn Transport 8 was going to do one last trip towards town, so we got straight back onto the bus and went upstairs and sat down. The bus set of along A682 heading Northwards towards Nelson. We turned right onto Casterton Avenue and we went Eastwards. Instead of turning right onto Briercliffe Road, we continued Eastwards along Eastern Avenue. After quite a long run we turned left onto Ormerod Road. At the roundabout went straight onto Ridge Avenue. At the end of the road we turned right onto Brunshaw Road. We ran down the steep part of the hill and we ran past Turf Moor. We ran under the railway line and at the roundabout we went straight onto Yorkshire Street. We turned left onto Croft Street and we got up and got off the bus. We had arranged to meet mum in the car park opposite to the bus station, we went around the outside of the bus station to take a few more pictures. We saw Transdev Burnley & Pendle 605 on a #1 to Burnley.

We walked back into the bus station and Matthew used the toilet. Afterwards we crossed over Red Lion Street and we walked into the car park. In the car parked we saw Max Private Hire minibus YD61 AXZ.

We got into the car an we set off out of town along Parker Lane and we turned right onto Finsley Gate. We turned left onto Manchester Road and at the roundabout we turned right onto Trafalgar Street. We saw B&N Coaches A7 BXN. We ran onto Westway and we ran Westwards out of town onto the M65. We ran Westwards for a couple of junctions and then we turned left onto the Southbound M66. We ran South and forwards onto the M66 and at the end we joined the anti-clockwise M60 and we saw Kirby Lonsdale coach hire SP04 HRL. We ran around North Manchester and we saw Lets Travel FX51 BVG ahead of us.

We joined the M62 and we ran Westwards to the M6. We ran Southwards through the roadworks and then at junction 16 we got onto the Southbound A500. We ran down to Stoke and we came off and ran into Fenton to Drop uncle Dave off at home. Once we had dropped uncle Dave off we ran up to Heron Cross and we crossed over the A50. We ran through Blurton along Blurton Road and we turned right onto Church Road. We turned right onto Beaconsfield Drive and we got home around 18:30. We chilled out on the sofa and we sort out the pictures from today and put them online. We also wrote some of the weeks Blog entries. For a late tea we had a fish finger sandwich followed by chocolate cake. Later on Matthew had a bath and then chilled out on the computer until around 00:30... Mark

Today we decided to re-visit Burnley. A check of the weather revealed that after a wet start the weather should dry up be quite warm for the time of year. We give Matthew a list of place from the North West and Midlands, and from the list he chose Burnley. Matthew got up around 10:00 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. We set of around 11:45 and we ran down to the A5035. We turned right into Stanley Matthew Way and by the Holiday Inn Express we saw Roxby Coaches YD66 AXV. We joined the Westbound A50 and then we turned right onto the Northbound A500. As I had gassed up earlier in the week, we went straight up the A500 to the M6. On the M6 traffic was moving well and passed a procession of buses coming the other way as we ran North up to the M65. We saw an unidentified Vision Travel coach, an unidentified Alba Travel coach, an unidentified Ashcroft's coach, an unidentified Hollinshead coach, Hollinshead DH13 HOL, an unidentified Grayway coach, an unidentified Carvers coach, Playbus K888 BWU, an unidentified Doig's of Glasgow coach and an unidentified King's Ferry coach. When we got to Junction 29 we came off the M6 and joined the Eastbound M65. Going Eastwards we saw B & N Coaches A12 BXN, an unidentified Red & Cream coach, an unidentified Cream coach with a red and black stripe and Robin Hood YJ13 HTZ. We came off the M65 a junction early accidentally onto the A679, and we ran into town along Accrington Road past Rose Grove railway station. We joined the A671 and we followed the road to the right onto Trafalgar Street. At the roundabout we turned left onto Manchester Road and we turned right onto Finsley Gate. We parted on the car park by Red Lion Street and we walk across the road. Mum went to the toilet in the bus station and we took a few bus pictures. Whilst we waited we saw dud Transdev Burnley & Pendle 2751 in Burnley on a X43 to Manchester.

When mum and finished we walked over to the cafe. Since our last visit the cafe has been refurbished and the layout has also changed. The cafe also changed it's name to Zara Cafe. We went to go the toilet but the toilet up the stairs is currently out of order. I took Matthew to the toilet in the bus station and mum ordered the food. When we got back Matthew had a breakfast washed down with a can of Coke. When we had finished we walked over to the bus station and walked around the outside. In the layover stands we saw Cranberry Coaches coach PJZ 2182.

There weren't many buses in the bus station so we walked up Red Lion Street to enter the bus station on the other side. Before we entered the bus station we saw Transdev Burnley & Pendle single decker 1860 on a M1 service Barnoldswick.

We then saw a First West Yorkshire single decker on Croft Street. We got closer and we saw it was First West Yorkshire 66748 on a #589 to Rochdale.

I asked Matthew if he wanted to do First buses today and he said yes. We went inside the bus station and we sat down for a short while whilst we waited for the bus to come into the bus station. A few minutes later the bus came into the bus station and started loading up. Matthew decided to go for a quick walkabout and we went to the top end of the bus station and took another bus picture. We then got in the queue before getting on the bus. We asked for 2 day tickets, but the bus driver asked if we were sticking together. We were able to get a First West Yorkshire group ticket for £5 between us.... bargain! We sat down towards the back of the bus and the bus set off out of the bus station. We ran over the roundabout onto Yorkshire Street and we ran up the hill past Turf Moor. I didn't notice if the large picture of Martin Patterson was still on the side of the stand. We ran out of town through Mereclough & Cliviger where we joined the A646. After crossing over the railway line we ran East through Portsmouth, Cornholme & Lydgate before we entered Todmorden from the West end. The bus emptied out a little and Matthew took a picture of the empty rear of First West Yorkshire 66748.

We crossed under the railway line before we entered the bus station from the South end. As we entered the bus station we saw required First West Yorkshire 37053 about to work a #592 to Halifax. We got up and got off the the bus and took a picture of First West Yorkshire 37053 before we got on it.

We flashed the First West Yorkshire Group ticket to the driver and we went upstairs. The bus set off out of the bus station and onto Stansfield Road before joining the Southbound A646. We followed the road to the left and as we left town we saw TJ Walsh FJ58 FRL outside the Todmorden Social Club. We then passed Pioneer minibus P100 NER. A few hundred yards up the road we passed the Todmorden bus depot where we saw First West Yorkshire Solo 50407, single decker 66790 and school buses 68643 & 68663. The road up to Hebden Bridge is a meandering tight valley. Sometimes there is barley enough room for the road, the River Calder and the Rochdale Canal, other times there is a wider area with houses and even a cricket ground. The railway line run above them all on a viaduct the length of the valley. We ran through the little vilages of Eastwood, Charlestown and Mytholm before entering Hebden Bridge from the West. We got to the main street and we got up and got off the bus. We crossed the busy road at the Zebra Crossing and we went into the Co-op store opposite. In the shop Matthew picked a can of coke and a couple of chocolate bars. When we cam out of the Co-op we saw TLC Solo 2261 on a #598 Eaves circular service.

We got to the bus stop and we about to have a bus stop picnic when we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw that it was First West Yorkshire 66711 on a #590 to Rochdale.

We got on the bus and we flashed the First West Yorkshire Group ticket to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off Westwards along the A646 up Mytholm and we saw that the seats opposite to us, so Matthew took a picture inside First West Yorkshire 66711.

We continued West through Charlestown and Eastwood and we ran the last couple of miles into Todmorden. We past the bus depot and the social club and we turned right, following the A646 before we entered the bus station. We got up and got off the bus and Matthew took another picture of First West Yorkshire 66711.

We decided to go for a comfort break and we set off along the path opposite to the bus station towards the market. On the way down we stopped to get a picture of First West Yorkshire 69581 on a #592 to Halifax.

We went through the market and across the car park to the toilet block where Matthew used the toilet. We walked back past the front side of the market and as we turned the corner we saw a double decker in the bus station. As we got closer we saw it was required First West Yorkshire 30856!

We walked around to the front of the bus. We spotted on the bus departure display that there was a bus to Burnley in around 50 minutes. We should have plenty of time to go up to Hebden Bridge and back so we got on and we flashed the First West Yorkshire Group ticket to the driver. We went upstairs and the top deck was empty so Matthew took a picture inside First West Yorkshire 30856 before we sat down.

The bus set off out of the bus station onto Stansfield Street and we turned left onto the A646. We followed the road around to the left at the roundabout and we ran out of town past the bus depot. As we travelled east we noticed the 'Kindness' in big letters on the side of a wall as can be seen in google maps here. We continued East through Eastwood, Charlestown & Mytholm and we entered Hebden Bridge from the West. On the end of Market Street we got up and got off the bus. Matthew took another picture of First West Yorkshire 30856 as it continued towards Halifax.

We crossed over the road at the Zebra crossing and we sat down at the stop. This time Matthew had time to share a bounty with me and uncle Dave as well as drink a can of Vimto. the bus was due at 17:10 and a few minutes later as expected we saw a double decker approaching. As it got closer we saws that it was required First West Yorkshire 37052 on a #592 to Todmorden.

We got on the bus and we flashed the First West Yorkshire Group ticket to the driver before we went upstairs. It was now starting to go dark, made more evident by the lights inside the bus. We travelled back West through Mytholm, Charlestown and Eastwood and my attempt at getting a picture of the word kindness on the wall as mentioned above failed miserably! We travelled back past the depot and into town and at the roundabout we turned right following the A646 North. We turned into the bus station where the bus terminated. We let the bus empty and Matthew took a picture inside First West Yorkshire 37052 before we got off it.

We had around 15 minutes to wait for the Burnley bus. Outside the bus station on the stop on the A646 we saw TLC SoloSR 90819 on a T1 Cross Lee service.

A few minuted later and the following bus from Halifax arrived. It was required First West Yorkshire 30561.

A few minutes later and the #589 Rochdale to Burnley made and appearance. It was First West Yorkshire 66748 that we had down to Todmorden earlier in the day!

We legged it across the exit to the bus station and we got on First West Yorkshire 66748. We flashed the First West Yorkshire Group ticket to the driver for the final time today before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the bus station onto Stansfield Street and we turned right onto the Northbound A646. It was now quite dark and we couldn't really see where we were going. We ran out of town via Lydgate, Cornholme and Portsmouth. We ran over the summit and we crossed the railway line and we continued West to Cliviger where we turned right onto Red Lees Road. We passed through Mereclough and we ran the last few miles into town down the hill and past Turf Moor. We went under the Rochdale Canal and we at the roundabout we went straight across continuing along Yorkshire Street. We turned left onto Croft Street and we ran to the end where buses sometimes stop to let out passenger if buses are going onto layover. We got up and got off the bus and then we went inside the bus station. We visited the shop first, in case it was about to close, and Matthew brought a can of Coke and a chocolate bar. Afterwards we went to the facilities and Matthew used the toilet. On the way out of the bus station we saw Transdev Burnley & Pendle 267 on a #1 Stoops Estate service.

We walked across Red Lion Street to the car park where mum was waiting with Greggs sausage Rolls and a bottle of Irn Bru for Matthew. We set off put of the car park onto Red Lion Street and we turned left onto Parker Lane. At the end we turned right onto Finsley Gate and then left onto Manchester Road. At the roundabout we went right onto the A671 and we ran out of town up to the M65. We ran West for a couple of junctions and then we went south down the A56. It was properly dark and we ran up to the summit and down the other side towards Haslingden, passing an unidentified white Bova. We continued onto the M66 and we ran down the the M60. As we joined the M60 we saw Parry's NU03 BUZ and an unidentified white double decker with black roof and window surrounds. We left the ring road to go West along the M62 and then we joined the Southbound M6. Traffic was going well until we got to a mile North junction 18 where we came to a stop. A fire engine and police cars went racing by and we eventually started to move. Two lanes were closed as there had been an accident involving a car and a lorry. We also saw Scraggs VT 9389. We let the M6 at junction 16 and we went South down the A500 passing Carvers coach FN52 HRW. At Sideway went east up the A50 and we came off at Longton. The fuel warning light was on so we stopped at Tesco petrol station to fill up with petrol. Once we had filled up we ran around to Z Carz to see what was parked up at their depot this evening. We returned onto the A50 and we ran west to Heron Cross. We turned left onto Blurton Road and we ran through Blurton up to church Road. We turned right into Beaconsfield drive and we got home around 19:30. For a late tea Matthew had bangers & mash with carrots followed by a jam filled shortbread biscuit. We then chilled out on the computer until bedtime around 01:00... Mark
