Today was the weekend before Chritmas so as is tradition, we always do a local trip. No research was done for this trip, we didn't even check the weather! Matthew woke up at 08:00 to have his medication. Matthew got uparound 10:30 and I went to fetch uncle Dave as we were starting from the house today. After getting ready we set off to the bus stop all the way on Magdalen Road and we waited for a bus towards Newcastle. We'd usually start by going to Trentham, but we wanted to avoid Stoke today as Stoke City were playing at home. As we waited we saw First Potteries 63178 on a #22 to Longton.

A short time later we saw the bus turn the corner. AS it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 63359 on a #22 to Newcastle.

We got on the bus and booked a Smart Day ticket at £3.50. This ticket is a multi-operator ticket valid throughout the North Staffordshire area. We sat down near to the back of the bus and the bus set off onto the A5035. We went past the Trentham Hotel we turned right into New Inn Lane. We turned left into Wilson Road and left into Church Lane. We continued down to the hill and we joined the Northbound A34. In the distance saw an unidentified Lakeside coach join the Northbound A500. We headed into Trent Vale. We turned right into Harpfields Road and we continued forwards on Hilton Road before turning right into the City General Hospital. Once through the hospital we turned right onto the A34 and we ran into Newcastle. We crossed the roundabout and we ran up Barracks Road and into the bus station from the South end. Once we got to the bus station we got up and got off the bus. We headed up Castle Walk and we stopped at the Pound Bakery. We bought sausage rolls and a can of dandelion & burdock and we headed back down Castle Walk to the bus station. We sat down and we had a sausage roll each and Matthew drank the can of dandelion & burdock. A few minutes later we saw a us heading for the Wolstanton corridor stand. We saw it was First Potteries 63349 on a #98 to Ball Green.

We got on the bus and we flashed the Smart Day ticket to the driver before we sat town towards the back of the bus. The bus set off onto Barracks Road and up to the Jubilee roundabout. We crossed over onto the A527 and we ran out of town through Brampton up to May bank. We continued forwards through Wolstanton and at the roundabout we turned right onto Porthill Bank and across the A500. We ran up through Longport to Middleport and at Trubshaw Cross we turned right towards Burslem. We ran up Newcastle Street into Burslem and we got up and got off the bus. We took another picture of First Potteries 63349 before it carried on towards Ball Green.

Once off the bus we walked around the corner onto the A50 to wait for a bus towards Tunstall. We didn't have to wait for long before we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 63174 on a #3 to Crewe.

We got on the bus and we flashed the Smart Day ticket to the driver before we sat town towards the back of the bus. We set off out of Burslem along Scotia Road past the Lidl supermarket. We turned left onto Williamson Street and then we turned right onto Tunstall High Street and we got up and got off the bus. We took another picture of First Potteries 63174 before it carried on towards Crewe.

We headed into Tunstall Cafe and Matthew went to the toilet whilst I ordered some food. Matthew had a slice of toffee cheescake washed down with a can of Cherry Coke. When we had finished we went outside and we crossed the road to catch a bus towards Hanley. Whilst we waited we saw Matthew's former transport bus DY08 FFX which is now in private ownership.

We waited at the bus stop opposite Subway, which is going to be relocting in early 2024 due to the state of the building. A short time later we saw First Potteries 63100 on a #3 to Crewe.

A few minutes later we saw our bus approaching. As predicted we saw it was First Potteries 63178 on a #99 to Newcastle.

We got on and flashed the Smart Day ticket. As the bus was empty Matthew took a picture inside First Potteries 63178 before we sat down.

We set off down the High Street and we stopped at the bottom before joining Brownhills Road. We ran down the hill to Trubshsaw Cross and we continued straight through Longport and over the A500. We went up Porthill Bank and we followed the A527 through Wolstanton & May Bank and into Newcastle. We crossed the roundabout onto Barracks Road and we entered the bus station. As we got off the bus we spotted Megabus 54609 on a M36 to Barnstaple.

We waited for a bus towards Hanley. A short time later we saw a bus approaching the stand. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 63179 on a #4A to Hanley.

We got on the bus and we placed our Smart Day ticket under the scanner before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off out of the bus station and onto Barracks Road. We crossed the Jubilee Roundabout and onto the A53. We ran into Basford and over the A500. We ran down into Etruria and over the A500. We continued along the A53 and we turned left onto Forge Lane. We ran out along the Lane and we crossed over the canal before we returned back into Etruria along festival Way. We crossed under the A53 onto Etruria Road. We ran into Hanley and into the bus station. We got up and got off. Matthew went to the toilet and we missed a #7A to Biddulph. We decided to go up to the car park and take a few pictures. We left the bus station and walked onto Lidice Way. We crossed lover John Street and we saw First Potteries 44511.

We went into the mulit-storey car park and we took a few pictures. We saw First Potteries 67177 on a #6 to Park Hall.

We set off back towards the bus station and we saw D&G Bus 594 on a #16 to Leek.

We got back to the bus station and we had a choice of 2 buses towards Biddulph. There was a D&G Bus #9 or a First Pottereies #7A. We decided to wait for the First bus. A short time later it approached the stand. We saw it was First Potteries 63345 on a #7A to Biddulph.

We got on the bus and we placed our Smart Day ticket under the scanner before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus waited for time before setting off out of the bus station. We went down John Street and onto Bethesda Street. The road in front of the museum was closed so we turned right onto the the ring road. We turned right onto Broad Street and left onto Marsh Street and back onto the route. We turned right into Trinity Street. We turned left into Stafford Street and we continued forwards to Quadrant Road and we left Hanley along Town Road. We travelled through Sneyd Green and over Smallthorne roundabouts to Chell. At the roundabout we turned right and we ran down the A527 through Brindley Ford. We turned left to run through Brown Lees. We crossed over the A527 at Knypersley and we ran around through the housing estates of Biddulph before running into town via St John's Road, Colliers Way and up Wharf Road to the bus station where we got up and got off the bus. Matthew took another picture of First Potteries 63345 before it carried on back to Hanley.

Once off the bus we visited the toilet. Afterwards we decided to go around the corner to the pub. We walked along Wharf Road and we turned left onto High Street. We stopped at the pub and Matthew had a glass of Coke. When we had finished we walked back along High Street and left onto Wharf Road. We stopped at the stop and we didn't have to wait long for a bus. A short time later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was D&G Bus 161 on a #9 to Westbury Park.

We got on the bus and we placed the Smart Day ticket under the scanner for the final time today before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off onto the High Street and we turned left at the roundabout onto St John's Road. We ran around the estate and we turned left onto the A527 and we ran down through Brindley Ford into Fegg Hayes. We turned left onto Oxford Road and we ran forwards into Chell Heath. We passed Matthew's old school site which is going to be a new sheltered housing site. We ran through Bradeley to the traffic lights. We turned right and we ran up the hill through Smallthorne and right again onto Ford Green Road past the pub which which is not going to be a new Wetherspoons pub. At the top of the hill we turned left onto the A5272 and into Hanley. We ran into town along Town Road and we crossed over the ring road. We turned right onto Quadrant Road and we went under the Intu Potteries shopping centre. We ran forwards onto Stafford Street and we passed the town hall. We ran along Bagnall Street and into the bus station. We got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus and Matthew used the toilet. As we headed out of the bus station we saw D&G Bus 146 on a #32X to Uttoxeter.

Afterwards we headed across Lichfield Street and across the ring road and we stood near to the Venus Fish Bar to wait for mum. Mum and her friend Pauline turned up a few minutes later and we decided to go to another chip shop because it was very busy. We got in the car and we set off onto Lichfield Street and we crossed Joiners Square roundabout onto Victoria Road. We continued to the top and we ran forwards onto King Street. We turned left onto Park Street and we stoped oppsite to The Angel Inn. Mum went acrioss the road to the chip shop an when she came back we decided it would be easier to go home to eat the chips. Mum got back in the car and we set off along Park Street and we turned left onto King Street where they have started work on the new Burger King. We turned right onto the A50 link road and we ran along the high lavcel A50 to Heron Cross. We turned left onto Blurton Road and we turned right onto Church Street. We turned right onto Beaconsfield Drive and we stopped to let Pauline out. We continued through Blurton and back to the house. Matthew had sausage chips and gravy washed down with a can of Cherry Coke. Later on we went to drop uncle Dave off. We set off trough Blurton onto Beaconsfield Drive and we turned left onto Church Street. We veered left onto Blurton Road past the former Coral betting shop. We ran through Blurton and into Heron Cross and over the A50. At Heron Cross lights we turned left onto Grove Road. We ran forwards onto Whieldon Road. We stopped at uncle Dave's to Drop him off and Matthew drank some of uncle Rob's Irn Bru and used the toilet. We update his calendar. We got back in the car and we went up Wheildon Road past the former Regent which is now an Indian Restaurant. We ran forwards onto Grove Road and we saw green minibus R482 NDM parked up. We turned right onto Blurton Road and we crossed over the A50. We continued through Blurton and at the roundabout we veered right onto Church Street. We turned right onto the A5035 and back to Blurton. Later on we did some more of the Blog and wrote an e-mail. Matthew had a bottle of Irn Bru. Today Matthew was in the residential unit and later on was coming to Blurton. He was also going to see Grandma and going to the pub. Matthew got up around 08:00 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. In the morning Matthew went out to Hanley. We went downstairs and we set off on Temple Street and ewe cur through onto City Road. We crossed over and we walked along Manor Street. We turned left onto Victoria Road past the potential site of the new Second Cup drive thru near to Cheerful Links. We continued down to Joiners Square and we crossed over the A52 onto Lichfield Street. We stopped at the Venus Fish Bar and we had sausage chips and gravy and a a can of Dr Pepper. When we had finished we crossed over the ring road and and we headed past the building site of the former bus station new arena. We stopped at B&M on Old Hall Road and we brought chocolate cake. We continued along Parliament Row to Markets Square and we headed down Piccadilly to the bank. We did a blance check and we walked along Stafford Street. The buses are currently diverting and not stopping. We continued onto Lichfield Street and we went to the bus station. Matthew used the toilet and afterwards we waited for a bus back to Fenton. Whilst we waited we saw First Potteries 63100 on a #7 to Kidsgrove. A short time later the bus arrived on stand. It was First Potteries 67179 on a #11 to Newcastle.

We got on the bus and we booked to Fenton before sitting down towards the back of the bus. We set off onto John Street and we turned left onto Bethesda Street. We turned left onto the ring road and left onto Lichfield Street and we turned right onto Birch Terrace. We followed the road around onto Charles Street and we turned right onto Old Hall Street. We crossed over the ring road onto Bucknall New Road. We ran down the hill through Limekiln lights. we turned right onto Dividy Road. We turned left onto Beverley Drive and right onto Dawlish Drive. We ran through the estate and back onto the A5272. We ran up to Adderley Green and we saw First Potteries 67175 parked in the garage. At the roundabout we turned right onto Anchor Road. system onto Commerce Street and right onto The Strand. After a brief stop we ran down the Strand and under the railway line onto King Street. We continued down through Fenton and forwards onto City Road. We went past KFC and we got up and got off. Once off the bus we saw Copeland's Tours MIB 104 heading towards Longton. We cut through onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. We went upstairs and Matthew chilled out in his room and Matthew ate the chocolate cake whilst he waited for me to arrive. They tried to book a hotel for Matthew's up and coming holiday but they weren't able to do it. I arrived just before 15:00 and Matthew came downstairs. Matthew said goodbye to staff and we cut through onto City Road. As we walked towards the stop we saw a bus behind us. It was First Potteries 67181 on a #11 to Newcastle.

We got on the bus and we booked to Newcastle before sitting down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off down City Road and we ran down the hill over the old railway line to Leek and onto the A52. We ran under the railway line and over the A500 and straight into Stoke town centre along Church Street. After a brief stop in Stoke we continued along church Street and forwards onto Hartshill Road. We ran up the hill and into Hartshill and in the petrol station. We ran forwards onto George Street and we ran down the hill into Newcastle. We turned left at the roundabout onto Barracks Road and into the bus station where we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we saw Stagecoach Megabus 54283 on a service to Newcastle.

We had a choice of doing D&G Bus 124 so we decided to do it. We got on the bus and we booked to the hospital before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the bus station onto Barracks Road. We ran Southwards onto the A34 and we got up and got off the bus by the Cherry Tree. Once off the bus we headed along the A34 and we went up the hill towards Grandma's. At Grandma's Matthew had toast and a can of Irn Bru and used her computer. Matthew handed Grandma a present for Mother's Day. When it was time to go we went to the pub in the car via uncle Daves house. We set off just after 17:30 and we set off onto Victoria Street. We joined the Southbound A34 and we turned left onto The Avenue. At the end we turned right onto Hartshill Road. We ran down to Stoke and onto the one way system. We turned right onto Elenora Street and we followed the road around onto Copeland Street. We ran forwards onto Glebe Street and we followed the one way system onto Church Street. We crossed over the A500. We turned right onto the A500. We veered left into Fenton to pick up uncle Dave. We set off back down towards Stoke and onto the A500. We turned left onto Church Street and and we went around the one-way system. We turned left onto Boothen Road and we went past the former Victoria Hotel which is now Changes. We turned left onto Lonsdale Street and we re-joined the one-way system. We turned left onto London Road and we headed into the West End, and we ran past the former Oak Tree pub which has now been demolished. We ran to the end of London Road and we sat at the light waiting to turn right onto the A34. We continued up to the pub and we parked up. We walked into the pub and Matthew had a brunch with oatcakes followed by toffee sponge pudding with ice cream. Whilst we ate highlights of the passing buses included First Potteries 65031 on a #22 to Newcastle and ABC Supreme minibus HV22 HKX. Once we had finished eating we set off We carried on along the A34 through Hanford and into Trentham. We turned left onto Allerton Road. We turned right onto Trentley Road and right onto New Inn Lane and we saw First Potteries 67151 on a #21 to Trentham. We turned right onto Werburgh Drive and left onto Atherstone Road. We ran forwards onto the other end of Werburgh Drive and we turned right onto Wenger Crescent. After a brief stop and rna forwards and back onto Werburgh Drive. We turned right onto Bainbridge Road and we crossed over the former Trentham Gardens branch of the railway which is now a footpath. We turned left onto Brook Road and right onto New Inn Lane. We turned left onto the A5035. We crossed over the railway line and into Blurton. We got back around 19:00. Matthew chilled out on his computer and we sorted a few things out. Matthew had a can of Cherry Coke. We wrote the Blog and watch TV. Later on we dropped uncle Dave off back at home. We got in the car and we set off through Burton and we ran along Beaconsfield Drive where we saw white minibus EA07 LWW parked up. We turned left onto Church Street and left onto Blurton Road. We crossed over the A50 and we ran into Heron Cross lights. We turned left onto Grove Road and we ran forwards onto Wheildon Road. We dropped off uncle Dave and we ran back up Wheildon Road and forwards onto Grove Road. We turned right onto Blurton Road and we crossed over the A50. We ran through Blurton and at the roundabout we veered right onto Church Street. We turned right onto Beaconsfield Drive and left onto Finstock Avenue and back to Blurton. Today Matthew was in the residential unit and he was going out on the bus later on. Matthew got up around 08:00 and had toast for breakfast. before Matthew went to the day centre he watched buses out of the window. Whilst waiting for the time to go to the day centre, we saw D&G Bus 165 on a #23 to Hanley. We went downstairs and we set off We walked onto Temple Street and left onto Christchurch Street. We onto City Road. We crossed over at the crossing and we headed to the stop outside the shops. We waited for a bus towards Hanley. Whilst we waited we saw First Potteries 67178 on a #11 to Hanley. We got on the bus and we booked to Newcastle before sitting down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off down City Road. As we ran up onto King Street we passed the site of the new Burger King being built. We ran through Foley and we under the railway line into Longton town centre. We stopped outside the old job centre as the #11 no longer calls in the Interchange. We ran up Market Street and we turned left onto Anchor Road. We ran up the hill to the top and ran down to the roundabout in Adderley Green. At the roundabout at the East end of Bentilee we turned right onto Beverley Drive and then left onto Dawlish Drive. We ran to the end and we turned left onto Beverley Drive. At the end we turned right onto Dividy Road and we ran down the hill to Bucknall. We turned left onto the A52. We ran to limekiln lights and we went across onto Bucknall New Road. We climbed the hill up to Hanley and we joined the clockwise ring road. We turned right onto Bethesda Road and right onto John Street and into the bus station. We got off the bus. We were considering what bus to do next and we saw First Potteries 67152 on a #6A to Blythe Bridge.

We set off out of the bus station onto Lichfield Street and we crossed over the ring road and we ran alongside Birch Terrace and we turned right onto Lichfield Street and and went forwards onto Tontine Street. We walked through Tontine Square to the Intu Potteries shopping centre. We had a walk around the shops and afterwards we walked through Tontine Square onto Tontine Street. As it was a nice day we sat on the seats and watched buses on Stafford Street and ate a ham sandwich as well as a chocolate bar washed down with a can of Irn Bru. We walked back down Lichfield Street and back to the bus station. In the bus station we saw First Potteries 67157 on a #7 to Kidsgrove. Once off the bus Matthew visited the toilet. Afterwards we waited for a bus to Audley. A short time later we saw First Potteries 65039 on a #101 to Stafford.

We got on the bus and we booked to Newcastle before sitting down towards the back of the bus. We set off out of the bus station and onto John Street. At the bottom of the road we turned right onto Bethesda Street. We turned left onto Broad Street and then we joined the clockwise ring road. At the end we turned left onto Etruria Road before going under the A53 onto Festival Way. We ran past Waterworld and we turned left onto Forge Lane past a new minibus building by the Brindley Farm pub. We looped under the A53 and we joined the Westbound A53. We crossed over the A500 at Etruria and and we ran up the hill into Basford. We ran down hill to the edge of Newcastle and we got onto the one way system. At the jubilee roundabout we turned left onto Barracks Road before turning right into the bus station onto Barracks Road. At the roundabout we went left onto the A52 and we veered left onto Merrial Street. We turned right onto High Street and then forwards onto Liverpool Road. We rejoined the A52 and at the roundabout we turned right onto the Northbound A34. We ran North through Cross Heath and we turned left onto Brymbo Road. We turned right onto Holditch Road.At the roundabout we turned left onto London Road. At the next roundabout we went North up the B5500 and through Chesterton and we ran past former nail bar which is new a fish and chip shop. We turned right onto Crackley bank and we ran a few hundred yard before turning left onto Birch House Road. We turned right onto Holly Road and we ran to the top. We turned left onto Cedar Road and we ran Westwards to the B5500. We travelled North out into the open countryside to a junction. At the junction we turned left Megacre and we ran up into Wood Lane village. We ran around the village along High Street and right onto Apedale Road. We turned right onto Church Street and right again onto Woodcroft. At the end we turned onto Megacre and we returned back to the B5500. We continued Westwards into Bignall End and forwards into the centre of Audley village and we turned left onto Church Street and we ran onto Wereton Road. We turned right onto Queen Street and we continued onto onto Meadowside Ave we got up and got off the bus. We waited for a bus to Newcastle. A few minutes later we saw First Potteries 63173 on a #4 to Hanley. We got on the bus and we booked to Hanley before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off along Meadowside Ave and we turned left onto Vernon Ave. We turned left onto Wereton Road and forwards onto Church Street. We turned right onto the B5500 through Bignall End and then we turned right onto Megacre and we ran around Wood Lane. We returned to the B5500 along Megacre and we continued Eastwards into Crackley. We turned left onto Cedar Road and then we turned left onto Holly Road. we ran through the estate onto Crackley bank and we ran down into Chesterton. We ran through Chesterton along the B5500 and we turned left onto London Road. Part way along we turned right onto Holditch Road and we ran through the industrial estate. We re joined the A34 and we ran south towards Newcastle. By the old bus depot we turned left onto Liverpool Road and then left onto the A52. At the Jubilee roundabout we turned right onto barracks road and then we entered Newcastle bus station. The bus set off out of the bus station where we got up and got off the bus. We waled up to the top end of the bus station and we took a few bus pictures. We saw Stagecoach Megabus 54608 on a M36 service to Barnstaple.

We got on the bus and we booked to Hanley before sitting down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off out of the bus station onto barracks Road and we ran down onto the Southbound A34. We turned left into the hospital and we ran through the grounds and onto Hilton Road. We continued onto Albany Road and we turned right onto The Avenue. At the end of the road we turned right onto the A52 and we ran through Hartshill and down the hill into Stoke town centre. We went forwards onto Church Street and the bus topped in the town centre. After a brief stop we continued along the A52, over the A500 and under the railway line. We followed the A52 to the left and we ran alongside the railway and onto Station Road. We passed the railway station we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus we set off along Station Road and we turned right onto the A52 and we ran alongside the railway line before turning left onto City Road into Fenton. We turned right onto Smithpool Road and left onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. We went upstairs and Matthew chilled out in his room. We went downstairs and we set off onto Temple Street. In the distance we saw Temple Street church minibus RX18 GZW. We carried on along Temple Street and we turned left onto Christchurch Street. We turned left into Baker Street and We continued onto Glebedale Road and we City Road. We walked up to Victoria Road and we turned left onto Beville Street. We walked down the hill to the park. We left the park onto Beville Street and we turned left onto Victoria Road and walked up to the square and crossed over the road and we went sharp right onto City Road. We turned left onto Glebedale Road and we walked along Baker Street. We turned right onto Christchurch Street. We returned onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. When Matthew got back we went upstairs and went up to his room and had some cheesecake. Later on Matthew went downstairs. We set off onto Temple Streeet and onto Christchurch Street and into the Co-operative food store. Matthew brought a can of Coke before setting off back to the house. We went onto Christchurch Street and onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. We went upstairs and Matthew went back to his room to chill out. For tea Matthew had a chicken and potatoes. We went downstairs and we set off onto Temple Street. In the distance we saw Temple Street church minibus RX18 GZW.

When it was time to go pub we returned to Stoke in a Lucky Seven taxi. We walked out of the entrance and we got in the taxi we set off along Temple Street and right onto Smithpool Road and we turned left onto City Road. We ran forwards onto the A52 and we went under the railway line. We crossed over the A500 and we went around the one way system. We turned left onto Lonsdale Street and right onto Fleming Road. We turned right onto Campbell Place and we left onto Hill Street. We walked down the road to pub. Matthew went to the toilet and had a glass of Coke. When we had finished we returned to Fenton. We got in a taxi and we set off onto Hill Street right we Trades Street. We turned left onto Church Street and right onto Elenora Street and we followed the road around onto Copeland Street and we turned left onto Glebe Street. We turned right onto Lytton Street and we ran through onto City Road. We ran under the railway bridge and we ran up the hill into Fenton. We turned right into Smithpool Road and we turned left onto Temple Street past the new building under construction and back to the residential unit. Later on Matthew had a bath and then had toast for supper. He then chilled out in his room until bedtime around 23:00... Mark.
