Today Matthew was returning to Blurton, going to Grandma's and going to the pub, but first he was going out on the bus. Matthew woke up at 08:00 and had his medication. Matthew got up and had pancakes and orange juice for breakfast, Matthew chilled out in his room until it was time to go out. We saw Shelton Care Group WF24 BCE outside. Later on Matthew went downstairs and set off on foot to the bus stop. We went onto Temple Street and we cut through onto City Road and we walked to the bus stop by the flats. We waited at the stop for a bus towards Newcastle. A few minutes later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was D&G Bus 6010 on a #1A to Wood Lane.

We got on the bus and we booked to Newcastle before sitting down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off down City Road and we ran down the hill over the old railway line to Leek and onto the A52. We ran under the railway line and over the A500 and straight into Stoke town centre. We continued along Church Street onto Hartshill Road and into the centre of Hartshill. We turned left into the Avenue and left again onto Hilton Road before turning right into the City General Hospital. As we travelled through the hospital we saw Travel Express HF64 AJU. Once through the hospital we turned right onto the A34 and we ran into Newcastle. We crossed the roundabout and we ran up Barracks Road and into the bus station from the South end. Once we got to the bus station we got up and got off the bus. Once in Newcastle we headed to the toilets. After using the facilities Matthew headed back to the bus station to wait for a bus to Hanley. We turned down First Potteries 63177 which was going the long way around via Longton on the #11X to Hanley.

A few minutes later we saw a better option approaching. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 35948 on a #25 to Hanley.

We got on the bus and we booked to Hanley before sitting down towards the back of the bus. set of out of the bus station onto Barracks Road. We went Southwards on the A34 before turning into the hospital. We trundled through the hospital grounds and ran up to Hartshill Road via Hilton Road and The Avenue. We went down Hartshill Road into Stoke town centre and we continued onto Church Street and over the A50 before passing under the railway line. We followed the A52 to the left and we went forwards onto Station Road before turning right onto College Road. At the top off College Road we continued onto regent Road before turning left onto Bethesda Street. We crossed the ring road onto Bethesda Street and we turned right onto John Street. Once in the bus station we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew went to the toilet. Afterwards we left the bus station and we crossed over Lichfield Street, We crossed over the rimg road and we went to the chip shop. Matthew had sausage chips and gravy washed down with a can of Coke. When we had finished eating we headed to B&M to do some shopping. We crossed over the ring road and we walked up Lichfield Street. We went around the corner onto Old Hall Street and we went into the shop. After buy some stuff from B&M we set off onto Old Hall Street and we went around the corner to Lichfield Street and back to the bus station. We waited for a bus to Fenton. A short time later we saw a bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 63103 on a #11 to Newcastle.

We got on the bus and we booked to Fenton before sitting down towards the back of the bus. We set off onto John Street and we turned left onto Bethesda Street. We turned left onto the ring road and left onto Lichfield Street and we turned right onto Birch Terrace. We followed the road around onto Charles Street and we turned right onto Old Hall Street. We crossed over the ring road onto Bucknall New Road. We ran down the hill through Limekiln lights. We turned right onto Dividy Road and we turned left onto Beverley Drive and right onto Dawlish Drive. We ran through the estate and back onto the A5272. We ran up to Adderley Green and in the corner of the depot were a collection or recent arrivals from Bristol. At the roundabout we turned right onto Anchor Road. system onto Commerce Street and right onto The Strand. After a brief stop we ran down the Strand and under the railway line onto King Street. We continued down through Fenton and forwards onto City Road. We went past KFC and we got up and got off at the Travers Court bus stop outside the block of flats. Once off the bus we walked onto Temple Street and back to the residential unit. Matthew went up to his room to use his computer and watch buses. Matthew had a can of Coke. Just aftr 15:00 we arrived to pick Matthew up. A decision was made that today we would go in the car to Grandma's, and catch a bus to the pub. Matthew came downstairs and got in the car. We set off onto Temple Street and we turned right onto Smithpool Road. We turned left onto City Road and we ran down the hill into Stoke. We ran under the railway line. We crossed over the A500 and we ran into Stoke. We ran around the one-way system and we turned left. We decided to go pick something up from the Gregg's drive through on the way to Grandma's. We ran along LOndon Road through the West End ond Oakhill and into Trent Vale. We turned right onto the A34 and we ran up to the retail park. We turned into the retail park and we drove into the drive through. We bought a sausage roll and a bottle of orange juice. We set off out of the retail park onto the A34 and Matthew drank the orange juice. We turned right onto The Avenue and left onto Parkstone Avenue and left onto Occupation Street. We parked up near to Grandmas and we headed inside out of the heat. At Grandma's Matthew had toast and a can of Irn Bru and used her computer. When it was time to go we went to the pub by bus. We walked down the hill via Victoria Street to the A34 and we waited for a bus towards Trent Vale. Whilst we waited we saw First Potteries 35940 on a #25 to Hanley. A few minutes later we saw our bus approaching. As it got closer we saw it was First Potteries 63176 on a #22 to Longton.

We got on the bus and we booked to Trent Vale before sitting down towards the back of the bus. We set off along the A34 and we turned left into the hospital. We saw West Midlands Ambulance Service FX26 UCF. We turned right onto Hilton Road and we ran forwards onto Harpfields Road. We ran to the end and we turned left onto the A34. We got up and got off at the next stop. Once off the bus we headed along the A34 and we saw parked up. We walked into the pub and we sat down at our one our normal tables. Matthew had a brunch with oatcakes followed by toffee sponge pudding with ice cream. Highlights of the bus sightings included First Potteries 35687 on a #101 to Hanley. Once we had finished eating we set off along the A34. We ran under the A500 in Hanford and we continued into Trentham. We turned left onto the A5035 and we saw Atlantic Travel YN74 XXA. We carried on into Blurton. We got back around 19:25. Matthew chilled out on his computer and we sorted a few things out. We wrote the Blog and sent a couple of e-mails. Later on Matthew had a can of Dr Pepper and a slice of Arctic Roll. We chilled out on the sofa until bedtime around 00:00... Mark

Today we decided to visit Rawtenstall. We gave Matthew a few options of place we could visit and Matthew said yes to Rawtenstall. research consisted at looking at the Rossobus website and to check the weather which was for cold and sunny weather. Matthew got up around 10:00 and had cheese and oatcakes for breakfast washed down with orange juice. We set off around 11:45 heading onto the A5035. We went down stanley Matthews way and passed former Procters Coaches Van Hool coach HIL 7614 which now operates with Atlantic Travel. We headed onto the A50 and then onto the Northbound A500. We came off the A500 at Shelton New Road and we headed to the garage to pick up LPG. Once we had filled up we got onto the Westbound A53 before carrying on Northwards on the A500. We headed North on the M6 up to the M62 and then carried onto the clockwise M60. We then headed North on the M66 and carried on to the A56. around Haslingden we joined the A682 to do the last mile or so into town. We then parked up in a car park just off Bacup Road. We had planned on eating at a chip shop on Bacup Road but when we got there it was closed! We walked up to the bus station and we saw Rossendale Tranport 203 parked up between duties.

Still a little thrown by the 'Chip shop shut on a Saturday' situation, we carried on past the bus station whilst we went to look where we could go and eat. As we passed the bus station, a couple of Rossendale Transport buses arrived into the bus station. 'Rosso' 334 appeared on a #465 to Todmorden.

Behind this was 149 on a #482 to Bacup. We walked past a corner shop which was closed and passed a toilet block which was also shut. Across the car park / public space we could see a bakery on Kay Street. We walked across to there to see if we could find anything Matthew would eat. Matthew had a bacon bap followed by a slice of cake all washed down with a glass of Coke. Whilst we were there we saw a couple of Transdev's new Witch Way X43 buses. I asked Matthew if he wanted to do Rosso or Transdev and he chose Transdev. After we had eaten we went in search of toilets. This was solved by a visit to local pub The Crown and Matthew having another drink of Coke. We went to the bus station to see where the X43 we from, and the board directed us to stops L & K on Bank Street. As we were about to walk back up to the stops we saw 'Rosso' 221 on a #483 to Bury.

We stood near the stops and we saw a very full X43 heading towards Manchester which we decided to give a miss to. The was a X43 due at 14:03 which we should have seen but hadn't followed by another at 14:18. Around 14:18 a bus arrived and it was required Transdev 2777.

We got on this bus which was also quite full and we booked some Transdev Silver day tickets. We sat down upstairs and the bus was quite full. The bus set off out of town along the A682 and it was a straight run. It took around 25 minutes to do the trip. As we headed into town we saw Gibson Direct K70 AYR a set of lights to the right of us. The coach followed us into town and Matthew got a picture of it put of the rear window of the bus!

This was our first visit to Burnley, so we decided to have a quick explore around the bus station. Matthew visited the toilets and then we went out of the bus station and walked around the outside on the path we had spotted when we came into the bus station on 2777. There was a small layover area with space for 3 vehicles. There were 2 vehicles parked up there today. The vehicles were Transdev Burnley and Pendle 1072 and Springfield JH03 HDW. We saw 'Rosso' 204 on a #483 to Bury.

We also saw First West Yorkshire 66790 on a #592 service to Halifax and Transdev 'Starship' MPD dart 715.

At the far end of the bus station we saw Tyrers 'Pendle Green Line' Solo MX08 DGE.

We walked back into the bus station and then we visited the Information centre to pick up a few timetables. We then spotted Transdev Burnley & Pendle 1066 on a #25 to Keighley which was going even further away. We had also seen Transdev Burnley & Pendle 1069 on a #23 to Accrington which was headed in a similar direction to where we came from, and also somewhere we knew we could get back to Rawtenstall from, so we decided to do this.

We got on the bus and we sat near the back. The bus set off through town and then out towards Padiham passing Transdev Lancashire United 1102 on a #152 from Preston. The bus turned into Green Lane and then headed through a housing estate to Hapton. We passed over the M65 and then through Huncoat before heading into Accrington. The bus pulled into town and Matthew waited for the bus to empty before getting a picture inside Transdev Burnley & Pendle 1069.

As we had come into town we noticed M&M coaches minibuses parked up in 2 of the side streets. In bank Street was required M&M Coaches N375 PNY between working #46 turns to Blackburn.

Back in August, we had mistakenly caught N202 LPN thinking it was a required bus. Today we did the opposite! We ignored doing N201 UHH thinking that it was a bus that we had already done... We did need N375 PNY so we decided to do this up towards Oswaldtwistle. We walked onto Peel Street were we saw N652 VSS on the #1 to Oswaldtwistle. We definitely did not need this bus as we had done it back in September 2013. Whilst we waited for N375 PNY to appear Matthew went to the toilet and we then saw Pilkington Buse S451 WAT on the Dill Hall Circular

M&M Coaches N375 PNY appeared from around the corner and we got on the bus. The bus was quite well filled so Matthew wasn't able to get a good picture inside this bus. There was however one empty set of seats.

We set of towards Owaldtwistle with the intention of getting a X41 back to Haslingden or a Transdev Hyndburn Circular to Accrington if we missed the X41. We soon passed a X41 so we knew we were unlikely to be on one of those. We got off just before we reached the M65 and we crossed over the road to wait for the next Transdev bus. What I had forgotten about was the fact that there are 2 M&M coaches buses working on the #46. I was sorting out tickets and timetables in the trip bag when we saw an M&M Coaches minibus approaching. It caused me a bit of a kerfuffle but I kne Matthew would want to do this bus and we would have to pay for extra tickets. As it got closer we saw it was required N125 YHH!

We got on the bus and booked to Accrington. This unexpected move meant that we had to give the bus driver a £10 note which never goes down to well. We did this fine bus back into Accrington and when the bus emptied out Matthew got a picture inside the empty M&M Coaches N125 YHH.

We checked the time of the next X41 to Haslingden. It was not due for another 25 minutes so we had a bit of time to kill. We went to the shop at the end of Peel Street where Matthew bought Some Coke and Irn Bru and a small selection of Chocolate. Matthew decided to drink the Irn Bru and afterwards we visited the toilets again. We saw for the first time Pilkington Bus step entranced decker E329 MSG, but unfortunately we couldn't do it today. The was also 'Rosso' 200 on a #484 to Helmshore.

Eventually Trandev Lancashire United 404 turned up on the X41.

We got on the bus and we went upstairs. We had originally thought that we had been on this bus before, but a quick check of the 'Buses I have Travelled on' page revealed that it was 407 that we had done on this service back in August. We set off out of town down the A680 towards Haslingden. We called mum to ask her to meet us there and the bus headed South and across the A56. When we looked like we had got to the built up centre of town we decided to get off. Matthew took a picture inside of Transdev Lancashire United 404 just before we got off.

After a few minutes mum managed to find us and we got in the car. Here Matthew tucked into his Greggs sausage roll and drank some Irn Bru. We found our way back onto the Manchester Road / A680 and then we headed South on the A56. We did the A56 straight onto the M66 and then we did the anticlockwise M60 around the North end of Manchester. We went onto the westbound M62 which we did onto The M6. We headed South M6 and then we went onto the Southbound A500. went East at the A50 which we did to Longton Z Carz to see what was parked up. There were 3 vehicle parked up on the spare ground. At the back was Mercedes minibus M372 NWN which was too far back to get a picture. In front of this was Volvo coach M534 RSO.

In the Willow Row compound was LDV minibus T408 JUX in the same position as last week. We headed back home via the A50 and Heron Cross. We did Blurton Road through Blurton and onto the A5035. We got home at 18:45. For a late tea Matthew had bangers and mash with carrots followed by cheesecake. Matthew then chilled out on his computer until bedtime around 00:30...Mark

Today we decided to Chester. We had not visited since back in March, when there was deep snow all around! I didn't do any research except to check the weather, as we only decided on Chester on Thursday night. Matthew got up a little before 10:00 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. We set off just before 12:00 and we went along Stanley Matthews way onto the A50. We headed up the A500 stopping in Etruria for LPG. Whilst there we saw 60193 & 41493. We went onto the A53 and back onto the northbound A500. As we joined the M6 we were followed on by Stagecoach Megabus 55004. The motorway was busy and we were passed by a few different buses Leon's Coaches 206 & Happy Days Coaches 226 were going to Manchester United from West Brom. We headed west when we reached the M56 and then north on the M53. We drove into Ellesmere port along the A5032 and we saw GHA MX56 AAZ on the 7 to Rivacre. We also passed GHA SB15 on the #36 to Runcorn. We parked up near the market and we ate in the market food hall. We had to wait for a few minutes, so we went to the toilet.It was a while before we could get a table but eventually we did, (we shared a table with an old couple) and Matthew had a breakfast followed by a Victoria sponge cake. After we had finished eating we said goodbye to mum and walked to the bus station via the shopping centre. We walked out of the shopping centre and we saw Stagecoach Merseyside 28547 parked up in the bus station.

There was a solitary 'Into the port' GHA bus parked up (YM52 TPO) which we photographed and then we walked up to the top end to wait for a bus. I checked the time of the next 2 and it was due in about a minutes at 14:08. It turned and we saw it was dud Arriva NW&W 3123.

We got on the bus and sat down near the back. This was a bus that we had done when it was first delivered to Birkenhead back in September 2012. The bus was around 1/2 full and it dropped off a few passengers as we went through the estate before we joined onto the A5117. We carried on down the A41 dual carriageway and then we turned right onto the A5116 and went passed the Hospital ad Morrisons. We carried on passed the stagecoach depot and into the bus station via Northgate. When the bus emptied out Matthew took a picture inside the Arriva NW&W 3123 too.

When we got off the bus Matthew decided to walk to the bus station the long way around passed the library before turning into Princess Street. On the way to settling on our usual perch, We spotted and photographed Stagecoach Merseyside 21258 on the 1A to Blacon.

We carried onto the perch and we sat down. We were followed down by MacPhails Van Hool coach LCZ 6332.

We sat around for a few more minutes then we decided to do a bus. Required Arriva 2636 was on the #10 to Connahs Quay and dud Arriva NW&W 4488 was on the #11 to Holywell. We decided to do 4488 on the #11.

We waited for a few minutes for the driver to return to the bus and then it started to board. We got on the bus and went upstairs which was empty at the rear. Matthew got a picture of the bus whilst it was empty.

We set of out of the bus station and off towards Hawarden. This was a bus that we had done twice before...First in June 2012 and then again in December 2012! When we crossed over the Dee we noticed there were large amounts of coaches parked up and that the races were on today. We carried on the A5104 and we passed a couple of darts on the #3 and #4 service. We passed required Arriva NW&W 2359 & 2348. We decided to get off at the end of the A5104 and see if we could get a required Dart on one the other service. When we got to the end of the road we got off the bus. Matthew got a picture of Arriva NW&W 4488 before it set off towards Holywell.

We crossed the road (eventually), and waited at the stop on the other side of the road. Whilst we waited we spotted Arriva NW&W 675 on the #12 service.

A few minutes late we saw a Dart head into the shopping centre. A few minutes later it reappeared and headed towards us. As it got closer we could see it was required Arriva NW&W 2352. We got on and sat down near the back. The bus was nearly empty, but it did pick up a few extra passengers going into town. As we headed into Chester we passed another required Dart 2358! Further into town we also passed 2348 on the #3 towards Mold. The bus went around Chester and then headed towards the railway station. When we got to City Road the bus terminated. Matthew got a picture inside 2352 as we got off.

The area was packed with buses and coaches and we could only get a picture between other buses.

We walked back along City Road and we saw former Procters van Hool coach HIL7614 which is now with Atlantic Travel of Bolton.

We carried on towards gorse stack and we saw Arriva NW&W 4405 on the #1 to Wrexham. we also saw GHA SB30 on the X20 to Winsford. On Gorse Stacks we saw 'Into the Port' liveried Solo X9 GHA on a Mold service. On Delamere Street we saw Walter Martin coach WAL 895.

We carried on up Delamere Street and we saw Arriva NW&W gas powered bus 5004 and Arrowebrook MX07 NTT. Matthew decided we were going to walk back to the bus station around the ring road. whilst walking down we saw Stagecoach Merseyside 17502 on the City Sightseeing Tour open top service. We entered the bus station via Hunter Street and we saw required Arriva NW&W 2341 on the #10 to Connah's Quay. I asked Matthew if he wanted to do it and he turned it down. asked if he wanted to go to the toilet and he said yes. Instead of going to the market car park toilets that we usually use he decided he wanted to use the Portaloo's in Northgate! We walked back to the bus station and we sat on our perch whilst we decided which bus to do. We let go required Arriva NW&W 2636 on the #10, required 674 on the #12, required 4485 on the 11, and also required 4061 on the #84. This was followed by required gas bus 5005 on the X30.

Matthew decided he wanted another wander around, so we walked out of the bus station through princess Street and onto Northgate. We photographed some buses and coaches by the cinema before walking back to the bus station. by this time mum had arrived in the car from Ellesmere Port. We walked back down to the bus station and we saw Avon Buses 356 on the #22 to West Kirby.

Shortly afterwards required Arriva NW&W 4143 arrived on the #84 and actually decided he wanted to catch a bus! The problem was that I hadn't done any research on the Deeside Daysaver Zone so I didn't know how fr east you could travel on the #84! We had to wait for a few minutes for the driver to ready the bus and whilst we waited we saw Arriva NW&W 5003 on the #21 to Runcorn. When the bus was ready the bus loaded up and we got on.

We went upstairs and it was already quite full. The bus set off through Chester and picked up even more passengers in Foregate Street. We decided to go a few stops out of Chester. on the way we saw Burland Group minibus X863 BVN. We also passed Arriva NW&W 4489 on an inbound #84! We got off the bus in by The Bridge Inn and Matthew got another picture of it.

Looking at the bus stop timetable we had nearly half an hour to wait for the next #84 which was no surprise, but I didn't want to go too far on the tickets in case weren't valid. The problem was the next bus was a GHA one on the #82, and the alternative was a long wait. Around 17:25 the bus rounded the corner and it was GHA SB23.

We got on and asked for Chester and it cost us £1.70 each! I nearly died (well I didn't feel too chuffed with paying out those fares...)! Even worse when looked up SB23 in the list it was dud, having previously done it back in October 2011 on our first visit to Northwich, the one and only time we had previously covered the #82. We travel back into Chester along the A51. As we entered Chester we passed Copeland's Tours MIB 346. We then headed up Gorse Stacks and when we got back Matthew took a picture inside this bus.

To make things worse as we walked back to the car we saw required Arriva NW&W 2258 on the #10 to Connah's Quay.

We went to the car where mum was waiting with sausage rolls and pop. We set off out of the bus station and clockwise round the ring road to the A56. We did the A56 north up to the M53 and then onto the eastbound M56. We did this to the m6 and then headed South. The coaches that we had seen going North Leon's 206 and Happy Days 226 went south with jubilant West Brom fans after there win against Manchester United... We got onto the southbound A500 which we did down to the A50 and into Longton. At the Z Carz depot we saw 5 buses on the spare ground. Newest Mercedes minibus S952 VMY was at the front.

At the rear of the land was the coach ALZ 8539, and the last bus on the land was LDV minibus R920 WNT.

We had a look in the Willow Row compound we saw LDV minibus T408 JUX. We turned around and Matthew got another picture of R920 WNT from the other side.

We headed back along Longton Hall Road and into Blurton. We passed First Potteries 40017 on the #22 and 53828 on the #23. We got back just after 19:00. For a late tea Matthew had bangers and mash followed by Cheesecake. Matthew then chilled out on his computer until bedtime around 12:30...Mark
