Today we decided to visit Chesterfield. We had seen online that Stagecoach Yorkshire were holding a farewell day for the Dennis Tridents at Chesterfield. As the car had now been fixed we told Matthew on Friday that we were going to visit Chesterfield. Research consisted of checking for the weather, which was for dry weather with some sunshine. We also did some research into where we could park. We decided that we could eat at The Salt Box cafe in Hatton as it was only just off the A50. Matthew got up around 10:00 and had toast and orange juice for breakfast. We set off around 11:40 and we ran down to the A5035. We went North up through Dresden and up to Longton where we joined the Eastbound A50. As we travelled East we passed Cooks WA10 KNL & Copeland's Tours MIB 536. We left the A50 onto the A511 and we ran the couple of miles to the Salt Box cafe. As we got to the traffic lights we saw Arriva Midlands 3708 on a #1 to Uttoxeter. In the Cafe Matthew went to the toilet and then had a breakfast. This was followed by a a slice of cake washed down with a small bottle of Coke. Whilst we ate we saw Trent Barton 618 (V2) & 657(V1). When we had finished we got back into the car and we carried on East through Hilton and onto the A516. We travelled North up the A516 and onto the A38 and we passed Gray's Travel Group N39 FWU & Goodyear KEZ 7425. In Alfreton we passed Yourbus 1307 on a #52 service. We came into Chesterfield along Spital lane and along the A632. We went West along the A619 and we came back into the centre of town along West Bars and forwards onto New Beetwell Street. We parked up Hipper Street and we said goodbye to um before we walked back down New Beetwell Street. We had heard that the information for the buses would be published in the travel centre in the coach station. On the way we saw TM Travel Solo 431 on a #16A to Dronfield.

We headed over to there to the travel centre. On layover by the coach station were Stagecoach Yorkshire spare Trident 17009, Stagecoach Yorkshire Dart 34720 & Galloway coach YJ14 CDX.

At the bottom end of the coach station was Stagecoach Yorkshire 15193 on a X17 to Sheffield.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 15193 in Chesterfield
Whilst there Matthew visited the toilet and I picked up a local travel guide as well as the #39 timetable and the leaflet with the information about the Trident running on the #25 & #84 services. The was also a board as promised with the buses listed, with the services they were working and their departure times of New Beetwell Street. There were 4 Trident booked to work with 17004/17007/17008 & 17050 listed on the boards. There were also times for the Stagecoach East Megadecker 14000 & Stagecoach East Midlands Atlantean 15513. After we had finished we went outside and we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 34583 to Alfreton.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 34583 in Chesterfield
We walked along New Beetwell Street whilst we decided on what bus to do first. Almost as soon as we got to the area by the bus stops we saw Stagecoach East Midlands 15513 on a #39 to Grangewood.

Stagecoach East Midlands 15513 in Chesterfield
We considered doing this bus but almost as soon as we got a picture the bus pulled off. We consulted the Trident running guide and we saw there was a #84 to Holymoorside at 14:22. We looked up whete the stop was for the #84 in the Chesterfield Bus Guide and we headed over to it. Whilst we waited we saw TM Travel 1171 running out of service.

TM Travel 1171 in Chesterfield
We also saw one of the Tridents in service... It was Stagecoach Yorkshire 17004 on a #25 to New Whittington.

We got on the bus and we booked Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets at £3.30 each. We went upstairs and the top deck was empty, so Matthew took a picture inside Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008.

Inside Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008
The bus set off out of New Beetwell Street and almost immediately we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 17007 on a#84 to the Royal Hospital. We went forwads onto West Bar and we went West along the A619. According to the map we weren't valid all the way to Holymoorside so when we got to Brookfield Schools we got up and got off the bus. Once off the bus Matthew took another picture of Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008 as it carried on towards Holymoorside.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008 in Chesterfield
We crossed the road for the return service, which we knew would be Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008 again. We only had to wait 10 minutes or so, and whilst we waited we saw The Traveller Choice coach PO15 KTP. As few minutes later we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008 approaching again up the road.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008 in Chesterfield
We got on the bus again and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. We set off along Chatsworth Road and as we passed Storr's Road we saw TM travel 1109. We carried on into town along the A619 and we ran into town along West Bar and forwards onto New Beetewll Street. When we got back to the bus stop we got up and got off the bus. There was another Dennis Trident in front of us so we went to investigate... It was required Stagecoach Yorkshire 17009, and it was taking over from Stagecoach Yorkshire 17008 on the #84 to the Royal Hospital so we decided to get on it.

The bus set off Eastwards along New Beetwell Street and we forwards onto Beetwell Street and onto Lordsmill Lane. We crossed Lordsmill Roundabout and we went east on the A632, under the A61 and the railway line. We climbed a rather steep hill out of the Rother valley and at the top of the hill we passed Stagecoach East Megadecker 14000 on a #80 to Chesterfield. We got to the hospital and we turned left into the grounds. There was a booked stop of around 4 minutes so we got off the bus and we took another picture of Stagecoach Yorkshire 17009.

We got back on the bus and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. Whilst we waited for bus to depart we worked out that we could get back into Chesterfield for an 8 minute wait for the next Trident back up to the hospital, which was Stagecoach Yorkshire 17007. The bus set off out of the hospital and back onto the A632. We ran down the hill and under the railway line and the A61 and we ran into town. We entered New Beetwell Street from the East and on onto stand B12. Once off the bus we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 17004 on the #25 to Whittington. We crossed the road and walked over to it, and we just had time to get a picture before it set off Eastwards. We only had a few minutes to wait for required Stagecoach Yorkshire 17007. Whilst we waited we saw TM Travel 1207 on the stop opposite.

Once again the bus set off Eastwards along New Beetwell Street and we forwards onto Beetwell Street and onto Lordsmill Lane. Once again we got back on the bus and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. Last time we had just missed Stagecoach Yorkshire 17004 on the #25 to New Whittington. This time, if we were running on time we could make Stagecoach Yorkshire 17050 on the following #25 service. The bus set off out of the hospital and back onto the A632. We ran down the hill and under the railway line and the A61 and we ran into town. We entered New Beetwell Street from the East and we passed Stagecoach Yorkshire 17050 just leaving... We got off the bus and we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 34720 on the #80 to Brimington Common, which had taken over from Stagecoach East Megadecker 14000.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 34720 in Chesterfield
We had spotted there was an #50A service to Sheffield which ran out of town along the same roads as the #25. I thought that perhaps we could go North to meet Stagecoach Yorkshire 17004 and get back for Stagecoach East 14000, which was booked to wotk the 16:40 #74 departure to Duckmanton. Whilst we waited we saw TM Travel Plaxton Centro 796 branded for the Spira service to Sutton-in-Ashfield.

A few minutes later we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 15693 on the #50A to Sheffield.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 15693 in Chesterfield
We got on the bus and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver before we went upstairs. The top deck was empty, so Matthew took a picture inside Stagecoach Yorkshire 15693.

Inside Stagecoach Yorkshire 15693
The plan was to travel a short distance North out of town and to come back on Stagecoach Yorkshire 17004. Due to a lack of local Knowledge I didn't figure on a one way system around town. I also didn't figure out just how slow we would progress through the town. It was 16;10 before we set off and we made slow progress as we went North past the crooked spire. We went onto Saltergate and we went North up the B6057 and over a roundabout. I think we must have already missed the bus in the one way system so as we only had a round 20 minutes to get back into town for the #74 service, as we started leaving town we got up and got off the bus. Matthew took another picture of Stagecoach Yorkshire 15693 as it carried on towards Sheffield.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 15693 in Chesterfield
We crossed the road and we set off up to the bus stop on the opposite side of the road. On the way up we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 15829 on a #50 to Chesterfield.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 15829 in Chesterfield
When we got to the stop we saw that there was a #90 into town due in a few minutes. We also noticed that we were opposite to the Stagecoach Chesterfield depot which sat 100 yards back from the road on on a large levelled off area above us. A few minutes later we saw a dart turn the corner onto Sheffield Road. As it got closer we saw that it was required Stagecoach Yorkshire 34364.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 34364 in Chesterfield
We got on the bus and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver before we sat down towards the back of the bus. The bus set off down Sheffield Road and over the roundabout. We ran down Holywell Street and onto Stephenson Place. We ran through town and onto New Beetwell Street. We got off the bus and Matthew took another picture of Stagecoach Yorkshire 34364.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 34364 in Chesterfield
We had around 8 minutes to go to the travel centre to use the toilet and then cross back over to get the #74 bus. When we got to the travel centre we found that it had shut a couple of minutes earlier at 16:30! I had to promise to take Matthew to the toilet after we got off the next bus. We walked across the road and we Stagecoach East 14000 was already on stand.

Stagecoach East 14000 in Chesterfield
We got on the bus and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver before we went upstairs and sat down. The bus set off along New Beetwell Street. And we went North through town and onto Saltergate. We went around the Holywell Cross car park and onto Brewery Street. We crossed over the A61 and we ran close to the railway station before we turned left onto Birmington Road. We crossed over the railway line and we ran North for around 1/2 mile up to Chesterfield Road. We turned right heading Eastwards up the hill in Birmington. As we approached town Matthew took a picture of the empty seats behind us in Stagecoach East 14000.

Inside Stagecoach East 14000
In the centre on Birmington, we went around the common and we got up and got of the bus. Matthew took another picture of Stagecoach East 14000 before it carried on towards Duckmanton.

Stagecoach East 14000 in Brimington
We walked around the common to the bus stop and we checked the times. We checked the times of the #74 & #80 as I had noticed that there was an #70 service too. Once we had checked the time we had around 20 minutes so we headed down to the pub on the other side of the common called the Red Lion. Matthew used the toilet and then we brought a couple of small bottle of pop. There was another stop which was closer to the pub, so we crossed over and sat there. A few minutes later we saw Stagecoach Yorkshire 36993 on the #74 to Chesterfield.

Stagecoach Yorkshire 36993 in Brimington
We got on the bus and we flashed the Stagecoach Chesterfield Dayrider tickets to the driver for the final time today before we sat down towards the back of the bus. We set off back down Chesterfield Road and we turned left onto Birmington Road. We crossed over the railway line and we ran South down to the railway station before we went West into town over the A61. We ran into the town centre and we went out West on Rose Hill towards Clarence Road where we turned right. We then joined onto New Beetwell Street from the West end and onto the stand for the #74. We let the bus empty out and then Matthew took a picture inside Stagecoach Yorkshire 36993.

Inside Stagecoach Yorkshire 36993
Mum had parked on a a space outside the coach station, so we walked down to there. Outside the travel centre we saw Stagecoach East Midlands 27184 on a Pronto service to Mansfield.

Stagecoach East Midlands 27184 in Chesterfield
We got in the car and mum was waiting for us with some Greggs sausage rolls. Matthew washed his down with a large can of Irn Bru. As we didn't have to find anywhere we decided to go back over a more direct route over the moors. We set off along New Beetwell Street and we ran Westwards out of town along the A619. As we got to the edge of town near to Holymoorside we caught up with G&J Holmes YJ60 LTY. We ran into Bakewell and we continued west along the B5055 through Moneyash. We crossed the A515 and we continued through Longnor and onto the A53 at Winkhill. We ran South through Blackshaw Moor. We entered the east end of Leek and ee turned left onto Springfield Road. We turned right onto the A523 and we ran into the centre of Leek. We got back onto the A53 briefly, before we turned into Compton and onto the A520. We ran down through Cheddleton and Wetley Rocks and Cellaread to Meir. We joined the A50 and we saw Tiger European TT55 GER and Skills SIL 9543. We went Westwards to Longton where we came off to see what was parked up at Z Carz this evening. In the first row we saw Z Carz Ford minibus GL04 CVE.

In the front of the row we saw Z Carz LDV minibus PN06 ONM.

We got back onto the A50 and we crossed over the main carriageway and onto Baths Road. We went into Tesco and we filled up with diesel at the petrol station. We got back on to the A50 and we headed towards Heron Cross. on the way we saw Harpur's coaches P386 JJU. We came off the A50 at Heron Cross we joined Blurton Road. We passed Lightning Travel T2 DLT and we ran through Blurton. At Critclow's Corner we turned right onto Church Road and we turned right again onto Beaconsfield Drive. We got home around 19:00. For a late tea we had bangers and mash with carrots followed by a jam filled shortcake biscuit. Matthew then chilled out on the sofa until bedtime around 00:00... Mark
